Just started up my 1986 1.8 8v jetta after sitting the last 10 months and sounds like there are marbles in the motor when running. It has plenty of oil, I’ll try to upload the video here if I can figure that out.... seems to run ok. Any ideas?!? I thought it was the alternator maki g the noise, but now thinking it is the head.
The hydraulic lifters will bleed down and take awhile to fill up again. It will sound bad but if the engine was fine before it sat, it's probably fine now.
Start it up, warm up the engine at idle, road test it at 2-4k rpm. Freeway driving if needed. You'll be fine after 20 mins or less.
