Water pump bearing has totally disintegrated. I was very lucky not to loose the T belt and trash the engine. I'm now having a nightmare getting at the water pump to replace it.
Suggestions please.
I'm guessing I have to go via the wheel arch to get the bottom pulley (alternator belt) off. Can I get at the water pump bolts from there also?
T belt, alternator belt and cam sprocket are off so far.
Surely somebody has had to do this before with the engine still in the car. The crank alternator pulley is so close to the bodywork, I don't know if it will come off even if I got to the bolts. I can only get to 2 of the water pump bolts. I'm told there are 2 underneath it, but I can't see or detect them by fingertip either.
same as vw polo mk2 ...on those you need to loosen the engine mount and raise it on a jack for access
2 tooth styles avail on those pumps so watch out
