When a TCL member offers you a good deal on a car you take the deal.

Car was driven from WV to Chicago, then shipped from Chicago to Arkansas. Got it cleaned up today, it’s in great shape for the price. I need to steam the seats, and in all honesty I’ll probably be buying a new seat for the driver’s side, as the hinge isn’t very tight for the back, so it has some play front to back. Besides that I need a steering wheel. It came with brakes and new headlights and a half tank of gas. Can’t beat that.

In the next couple of days I’ll be “neutralizing” the motor and trans mounts. The mounts are fairly new but there’s some decent shake at idle or when in gear and stopped.

Before the PO (codered) purchased the car our forever caring Andy did his thing with it and the following was performed.

And for the rest of the post bath pictures.

First repair complete, or maintenance, whatever.

Neutralizing the engine and trans mounts. As I said in original post, the think shook, a lot. Especially in drive with foot on the brake, but even in park. So before I purchased new mounts I spoke with Mr. Andy and he told me to neutralize the mounts and how to do it.

      First step, remove air box.

Then you loosen the bolt going through the rubber mount/bushing.

On passenger side the bolt is under the power steering reservoir. Same thing, loosen it.

Then you start car with foot on brake. Keeping foot on brake you put it in drive, then reverse, then back in park. And turn it off.

Tighten the bolts and you’re done. To my amazement it worked, car is smooth as butter now.

      That was easy.

Nice, those are so practical and the interior has so many thoughful little nooks/crannies. I like the e-brake in them.

It seems like it has had a lot of work...? Was it neglected and Andy picked it up cheap and fixed a bunch of stuff? I know the timing chains can go if you run them low on oil or stretch oil change intervals too long but I haven't really heard of head gaskets on the K-series.

My mom has my old '03 EP3 Civic Si and it has only had an A/C compressor (at <60k miles, Honda paid half of parts/labor), idler pulley (where the PS pump is in yours, this one got noisy), HVAC blower, radiator and front struts. The original clutch is still fine at 180k (I was NOT gentle with it as I bought it when I was 25) and it's only needed a few batteries, sets of tires and fluid/belt changes and one front brake job.

      Nice.

We love our Element. It's been nothing but good to us.

I'm sure the CRV will do the same.

If it does have a VIN that starts with SHH (Swindon) and you want some super-nerdy badging, Honda made Union Jacks that went on the Euro Civics of the time (but not on US-bound ones like my EP3). I always wanted one for but never got around to ordering one.

It goes here but was omitted on the US ones - lots of people added them

I never understood how these got the funky level e-brake when its sister car the Element got a very conventional floor mounted one between the seats,

About 6 months before I sold the Element, I took it to get the airbag recall done at a dealer. That is literally all I intended to get done (it was on it's way out) but the dealer service dept, not satisfied to leave me a lone and do just a recall did a " routine inspection" and read a similar laundry list of things they wanted to repair adding roughly more than 2 grand, on a truck that was giving zero mechanical fits and did it's thing day in and day out (only serious repair was when the VTEC solenoid valve failed a decade ago.) Long story short even after a ridiculous guilt trip I left there with the airbags fixed and never stepped foot in that dealer group again.
