Hey everyone. I have a 2000 12v VR6 Jetta that I did a lot of work on. New head gasket, timing chains, guides, and tensioners, valves, metal crack pipe and thermostat housing. Did a test fire with it yesterday (no front on car radiator or coolant in car) engine started shaking misfiring and backfiring out the intake. Took valve cover off and rechecked my timing top and bottom and it was still good . Also did a VCDS scan and this is what I got.

Did you ever get this sorted out? To me it sounds like either you messed up the timing somewhere or possibly got your spark plugs wires wrong. Some of those codes are probably because of unplugged sensors if the front of the car is still off with no coolant.

Yep. Here I swapped the plugs for the Aux water pump and PCV heating element . Next time I do a job like this I am investing in paint markers to mark my plugs. Over all the engine runs great now. Just trying to sort out the brake error I have thats showing 3 bad ABS sensors or ABS pump

Our abs boxes are notorious for getting broken solder joints or traces with the heat cycles and banging around over the years. If you’ve checked your sensors and connections it’s most likely the box. My 98 went bad at 7 yrs and I sent it to someone listing abs repair on eBay which worked and lasted a few years. Then I just ignored it for a few more. Sent it off to module masters last year after doing a little overhaul and deciding to make everything work. They warranty for 5 years and have been around a while so will prob honor it. Had it back in a little over a week including shipping. I think it was $100. Worth it since new is $$$ and junkyard ones will be in no better shape than ours.
