I like to fit the lifters dry if the valves in the head have been reseated. the extra clearance in the first minute or so of running helps the seats bed in quickly:thumbup:
I like to let them soak upside down over night in new oil. Get some fresh oil in there. Then when installing don't forget to let it bleed down for at least 30 minutes before turning over the engine.

I look at soaking lifters is oil like soaking brake calipers in brake fluid. You will not get any of the air out by doing that, no matter how long you leave them soak. You must force fluid thru the part to get the air out.
But, you are not harming anything and if it makes you feel warm and fuzzy have at it.
Just chiming in that I like to soak my lifters.
But it's important to do it overnight on a full moon. Even better if you can put the lifter in a jar with oil directly on a moonlit windowsill. Don't forget to bless the oil too.
well that's just stating the obvious. pretty sure everyone already knows that:laugh:
