So my dad sent me this photo of a GTO kit car he saw in a parking lot in Melbourne Beach, Florida. My dad is adamantly saying its real. I say no way.
Damnit I love the real ones

you never know what you'll see in Florida --- a couple of years ago I was working in Jupiter and saw a Facel Vega in a parking lot. It was a jawdropper. Sadly I didn't have a camera, but I looked it over for a few good minutes, it was black with red interior.
I couldn't believe that someone was driving it around in real life and how it was just casually parked next to all the other common beaters.

I agree it's probably a replica, here's what looks off to me:
- Hood line (too big)
- Rear fenders look too "sharp" where they meet the roofline
- Door handles appear wrong
That said, if it is a replica, it's not a bad one; I had to spend some time looking to find those things. On many replicas you can tell right away from the windshield/A-pillars and that didn't give it away. It may have started out as 250 Berlinetta or something.
Not sure that's much proof. Supposedly Warren Buffet drives to McDonalds every morning for a $3 breakfast.Originally Posted by candy11

Replica owners seem to love emblems, badges, and the general paraphernalia associated with whatever replica they own.
Trying too hard in most cases, they should have more of a sense of humor.
Dude should be wearing this shirt:
Most GTO replicas are 240z or 280z based. You can usually spot it by looking at the wind shield. Nice fake though! I saw one at Laguna a few years ago during car week that took me a bit to decipher.

100% an S30. A shame to ruin such a beautiful car really.
Add to that the awful panel gap fitment between the hood and the fiberglass front end. And the simple fact the turn signal lights ahead of the front wheels don't have the 250 GTO's bulges.
Maybe the owner is a faculty member at the Florida Institute of Technology?
Maybe purchased in Orlando?
Or perhaps it was bought at Mecum's Kissimmee auction?
Admittedly all crazy speculation on my part!
Man, that "replica" (I use the term very loosely here) looks pretty darn bad compared to the Z car it once was.
I'm not typically a fan of "curvy" car designs but the 250 GTO and the Toyota 2000gt are just so beautiful, while oozing raw performance. Especially given the era they were made. I can't imagine how much of an impact they had at the time.

That could've been a really cool Z. *sigh*
