Devil will be in the details, but I have a hard time complaining about anything RWD/MT these days. Looks like a Z car to me.

In today's market of pedestrian impact, side impact, and offset frontal impact standards you're simply not going to get a light and lithe bodystyle from any car short of a dedicated platform engineered to the Nth degree, such as the Miata. Nissan simply cannot afford to do that, and we're lucky to get a thorough refresh since they're in financial trouble. I think they've done an outstanding job given those parameters.

I hope they skip the convertible and go with the targa top.
I loved the Z32 ( I know the Supra was king but I didn't care), except as a teen I could never own one, and as the years went by they became too difficult to find / afford.

I want to like it, but I'm not feeling it. For the expected ~ $45,000 I'd take a Supra or Mustang GT. Z32 is still my #1. Wish the motor was easier to work on.

I can understand people preferring something else if they don't like the new Z. I'm not really sure how much I like it at this point. I think I might prefer a used C7. Having written that, I'm not sure I'd ever consider a supra or mustang. My feeling on the supra and Z are polar opposites. I' quite fond of the styling of the supra, but the lack of a manual and the BMWness of it are a major turn-off. OTOH, I like a lot about what I'm hearing about what makes the Z tick, but I'm a little underwhelmed by the styling. Personally, I'd give the edge to the Z. And the mustang? Fool me once, lol. I can't argue the performance or the styling, but to get the level of performance they offer at the price they're at (focusing on the GT version), the attention to detail and build quality is far less than I expect. And it drives at least as big as it is, which I do not like. The Z is, IMO, the sweet spot between something like the 86/miata and the pony cars. I feel like the Z is "just right". As someone noted above, the devil will be in the details though.

I personally think the Z32 is was of the most beautiful modern designs, so while this new one doesn't carry on that tradition, to me it is a good 'retro' design, much like the new Bronco. I like it, and that's the first time I've said that about a Nissan since the Z32

      Edit: Beaten!

To be fair BMW used it as early as the 2000CS, which was a mid/late '60s design. It certainly predates most posters on this forum, so connecting it to any modern car is just a problem of perspective.

I think its pretty damn near perfect, they should translate this exactly to production including the front end.

They should also remember the badge is a Nissan badge when theyre pricing it. 50-70k is not going to cut it.

Manual... that's all. It's gonna be a Supra killer.

Also, they have dials and knobs for the HVAC!

Unless you A.) Partner (Toyota and everybody) B.) Determine early on in PP/development that there going to be higher priced (i.e. profit rich-GM/ Corvette C8) variants based on said project, then a 'refresh' (BTW, this was very extensive from a re-engineering POV-the body in white walk round vs its predecessor is enlightening) is a smart play. Frankly, we wanted the Z and GT-R to go away until the flexible platform is finally ready, as these exercises aren't exactly rewarding from an ROI perspective, but many feel the Z is the soul of the company. (Meh) I think GMs decision to delay Camaro was very prudent-the market has shifted, perhaps permanently, and fashion statements like these would make a lot more sense in a CUV space, as enthusiasts are historically both notoriously frugal and difficult to satisfy.

I think it’s great. I’d love to figure out how to justify putting one in my garage. It’s the car and engine I’ve wanted Nissan to make for forever.

Well done to all those involved.
