I went to Vons today around lunch time. Was much better stocked than last Friday. I wore an N95 mask. Noticed they installed plexiglass guards for the cashiers. Weed deliveries still running. We will survive.

There's the "real" spike and the "perceived" spike. The problem is that everyone is going to compare one with the other and wild numbers will be flying around. Some will be high, some low. The main thing is to be aware that the numbers WILL go up drastically, but then they'll start going down. Once the numbers go down enough this thing will start to lift.

"Sooner is better", unless it's too soon.

The "numbers" aside from those who have unfortunately passed away aren't going to mean much unless we have country-wide and easily accessible testing available, and that means free testing. That way, people will know if they have it or not, and those who do can be immediately tended to (not like in the North Korean Memes), and we can get passed this and get back to buying lightly used cars.

It's an unfortunate situation, because the testing methodology is flawed therefore the data is flawed therefore the decisions made based off that data are also flawed.

And like SoS said, any "spike" in cases will actually be a spike in positive test results due to more testing taking place which still won't be representative of what's actually going on in the population.

So yeah... we just need to get past this and return to our usual business of buying used cars. Which means STAY THE EFF INSIDE for a couple weeks. Please and thank you.

I had a full tank and went for a drive, and we only got out of the car to take a few pics when nobody was around, so we had no social interaction. We just drove for 3 hours through the forest and out to the coast. Came back home, drove into the garage, jumped in the shower and thankful to get some fresh air. After 12 days inside my house, it felt great. Hwy 84 to 35 to 9 to 1 to 92 and home. Woodside, La Honda, Boulder Creek, Ben Lomand, Davenport, Half Moon Bay. Since I was in the Mustang, luckily there were no crowds to careen through.

Took a test drive in the truck after fixing the timing chain. Engine is still clattery so I guess I'll head back into the garage and socially distance myself while I adjust the valves.

Not gonna lie, I'm super tempted to blow the cobwebs out of the Lotus tomorrow, but I don't think I'm going to. Well see how I do when this drags on for more time.

My phone received an emergency alert from the city about sheltering in place till at least 4/19.

Did the NorCal folks get anything?

I didn't but my GF and roommate both got the emergency alert. Apparently no date given though.

We received a notice in Santa Clara County about staying in doors regardless if you tested negative as that would not relieve you from “social charge” whatever that means. The message didn’t indicate when these restrictions would expire.

Do it! It is one of the greatest cars I’ve ever driven (technically speaking, mine is a GT350R and I’ve actually only had a little time in a GT350, bit I think they are very, very, close).

@Dave: great route! Took those exact roads a few weeks before all of this happened.

@kiznarsh: San Mateo county have shut down all of its parks (https://www.mercurynews.com/2020/03/...urther-notice/). San Francisco probably not far behind if our parks are crowded once again this weekend.

This looks to be the weekend I take the car out to keep the battery charged, will probably just be a loop of the highways.

I went for a nice drive on Friday. Didn't do anything too spirited, but it was still great to get out of the house and drive around a bit with the windows down.

If you're concerned about wrecking or something stupid happen, just remove the risk.

I'd be eating paint off the wall if I were you by this point.

Yeah, I'm gonna do it tomorrow. Few reasons:

      1. I think based on the current scenario we might get a more ramped up shelter in place, aka a real quarantine. If that's the case, I'll have missed the boat to have taken an essential trip to the coast to buy toilet paper.

      2. I'm going to rearrange my garage tomorrow and need to fire the Lotus up anyway, so why not blow the cob webs out of it.

I'll just dial it back a ton and enjoy being out of my condo for the first time in a long time.

      Driven my car...twice since 3/6.

I go out in the garage to take out the trash, and find myself surprised to see it parked there.

It’s a good thing I don’t have a truly fun car parked in there, taunting me.

Every car can be fun depending on how wet it is outside.
