As the topic states, this can be anything, turbocharging your prius, a very sketchy car ad you are still thinking about, really anything, as long as in some part of your mind you know its a bad idea. You dont even have to be heavily considering it, It just has to be a bad idea.

Case in point, This Continental GT ad.

As a Bentley parts guy, just remember: The car may have depreciated, but the parts haven't. I get a lot of sticker shocked customers who bought dirt cheap used Bentleys and then need $1000 keys or $400 wheel caps

As for me, basically any time I see a cheap manual E46 M3, I want it. And I already owned one in the past and got bit by it

LS swapping anything older (or anything in general)

I did that to a 1980 C10, think that was the cheap way to get a reliable 300 up instead of hopping up a SBC.

By the time I had the swap running, I think I had about $5-6k into a truck that was visually identical to what I started with, and drove like a 30 year old old man special (because it was) on tired suspension. I probably would have been able to fix all the little issues I had with that truck, but I would have created $10k before paint.

this is right up there on the "things i shouldn't be searching for" list along with Maserati anything.

I really wanted an old Lincoln LSC, but I think I'm getting over that finally. Now I want a Cadillac CTS 3.6 or a Pontiac G8.

When scouring the country for a Skyline, I forgot these existed:

Also I regret not looking at FD RX7s, but I have a longstanding habit of buying the same models that I already owned (I had an FC recently, had X2 C900ts, X3 F bodies, X2 Miatas) and wanted to shake it up.
I gave up dailing old and rare cars and became a normie.

DIYing lower control arm bushings on a cts-v comes to mind.

Friend has a crown vic that we've consistently contemplated supercharging, but I also know how well that would probably end up.

I think the MightyCarMods "Yaris Hilton" project fits the bill. Especially the $169 Ebay turbo.

I got a solid 2 months of misery out of this bad idea.
      Bought it last spring.
      Still have it.
It's too big to do anything with and everything is rusted to oblivion.

I decided to put a Duramax and Allison into a B-body Roadmaster wagon.

It, uh, doesn't fit very well.

I think the dumbest idea I have on my mind right now is driving my Cayman 4000km this summer to have the exhaust hacked and welded back together.

Is i8 really famous for it's bad reliability or you just talking BMW in general? Because from what i read, i3 is one of the most/more reliable BMW within BMW...

There is a mint looking Hawc spec, black on black 2006 997 Carrera 4 w/ tiptronic with 35K miles asking $35K that I want so badly....but auto. If it were PDK I'd have probably already drained my bank accounts. The auto isn't actually terrible for my use case, but I feel like a base black on black C4 auto has to be the least desirable spec in the history of the 997.

      The car: https://www.hgreglux.com/used-car/po...-for-sale-7617

The dealer, which is basically the upscale equivalent of a BHPH lot, actually has some impressive vehicles listed for sale if anyone has time to browse.

      Phaeton W12

Despite just getting the Alfa and loving every aspect of it - I've been looking at Rapides.

I still want to get one of these: https://www.cars.com/vehicledetail/d...0920/overview/

Never had a V12 one and every enthusiast should own a V12 at some point...

And if I had a bit more money, that V12 would be this one:

      https://www.cars.com/vehicledetail/d...3427/overview/

Probably just as bad an idea, but I don't care... lol!

I don't even know if FCA will sell it here, but the Italian built Jeep Compass PHEV seems so appealing to me. Yet I know it would ultimately be a disappointment to own. Plus it will probably be Tesla Model 3 money for something with about 20 miles of EV range.

Messing with the suspension dynamics of a modern car (post-ish 2000's)
You gotta be careful and do your research. Some car's are built to a certain spec for a reason, and messing with that balance could make the car handle worse, even if its got a lower center of gravity and what-not.

Also getting big boy racing brakes on a daily.
Big boy brakes are not meant for daily commuting.
Big boy brakes are simply loud and less effective in most cases.
Stay away from big boy brakes.
Your favorite Ziemniak, hold the gravy.

I've been watching The Incredible Dr. Pol on Nat Geo for a few years now.

They're located in rural Michigan, and all the vets drive older Jeep Grand Cherokees on farm calls.

The Jeeps are beaten down and covered in mud.

      I kinda want one.
