      Hi Folks,

I hardly post these days but my otherwise sleepy town had another unfortunate event. Last week I posted a request to ID a child-luring Toyota Camry (based on your input). I sent the info to the tips email, and the appreciative detective got back to me within a few hours. He mentioned that they posted a pic of a vehicle of interest on their twitter site. This guy shot and killed a 7-11 clerk in an armed robbery.

This car has many more styling features and certainly must be less common than the previous camry.

      Things that interest me:
      - The rake of the vehicle, seems telling
      - The relatively thin c-pillar
      - The relatively thin front fender metal (above tire - prelude style)
      - The appearance of a rear door handle
      - The presumably blacked out b-pillar
      - The black wheels, if you identify the car, did it come with factory black wheels?
      - There is a lot of tail light showing from the profile pic
      - Look at the height of the rear bumper relative to the rockers. Are these aftermarket side skirts or factory styling queues?

If you post suggestions, please inclide the make and model. I don’t know my Japanese and Korean cars.

Happy Friday - Thanks in advance!

My opinion, the door handles are too far from the window. I think you are period correct though. Most modern sedans have a rear passenger window that is pointy and sloped, not truncated like this car and the few that you posted.

Edited my post: Please include Make and model...

The door handles look spot on though. Possibly a first gen RL?

Agree, needs more tail light. Also the forward edge of the c pillar turns down in the suspect picture, somewhat like the maxims, but maybe not as proknownst.

This is a ‘94 Maxima. I know it isn’t really “rake”, but the design queue of the raked stance seems more like a 2000+ characteristic. I also think that the car has a spoiler.
Notice how the trunk lid slopes up!

1994 Maxima, close but wrong “stance” IMO. The thin front fender is certainly a 90’s Honda design queue.

      1994 Maxima - nope IMO

I think everyone is in the right wheelhouse. My first thought with the thin C-pillar, prestige trunk overhang, and possibly thin, blacked-out B-pillar / frameless windows is the 2003-04 Infiniti M45. It’s an oddball JDM-looking bodystyle before the more mainstream successor came out.

There's a little light reflecting off the front door handle. There's not a similiar spot for a rear door handle. IMHO it's a 2 door. Like a late 90s Legend coupe maybe.

I like the Accord too. But check out a Honda door handle VS an Acura door handle, I think the Acura would have more of a defined reflection like our blurry car does.

You know that makes a lot of sense! Perhaps I biased the inquiry with my four door comments. That overall JDM style that was mentioned seems like more of a two door style also. You can definitely see the door seam. That would be a pretty small rear door. I will hunt around for some two door options.

I wasn't aware they made four door Preludes.

My vote is the Acura Legend or RL.

Current thinking is that it perhaps isn’t a four door. There is a reflection near the front door handle and not on the rear. A painted door handle wouldn’t do that so it is likely Chrome. That sounds more like Acura and Honda.

@GolfTango - I can’t get those Prelude body lines out of my head. Especially the front fender. HOWEVER - The remaining rocker length from the door seam to the rear arch is too short on all Preludes...

You know for a fact that it’s a four door, @GolfTango?

That vertical line that runs from the rocker to the driver’s side window makes for an awfully big door.

Unless someone decided to install four door handles on a coupe.

You can see them, they are not clamshell but the extruding pull type.

@GolfTango eh, some people see Jesus Christ in toast. I’m with the others that see it as (possibly) being a two door.

Either way, let us all know when you’ve cracked this case, would ya?

I can make myself see both, the "4 door" handles are darker, but way too high on the beltline to jive with any of the cars mentioned.

The "2 door" handle is the obvious bright pixel.

I also see Toast Jesus. Regularly.

I see no Andy in this Honda product. But now that you mention in, I should.

I see four door handles. The reflection I see is just the light reflecting off the lower door. Could be a dent or something.

      You mean Gen2 Acura TL.

Though the apparent "prestige gap" does remind me of a Gen1 Acura TL (those were longitudinal FWD, unlike later generations). But those don't have a Hofmeister kink like the 2nd generation, so you might be right.
