This one blew my mind. I was walking my daughter to daycare yesterday morning, as usual, I'm pointing out car makes and models and colors to her, and then I'm like ''white Peugeot wagon, wait what?''. Street parked in the middle of downtown Montreal on a frigid 0F day, is this relatively straight Peugeot 505 turbo wagon, covered in dirt, grime and salt, so this thing is likely a daily or year round driver. My mind was completely blown.

And then same morning, on the drive to work, I see a Chinese branded car on a North American road for the first time, a BYD E6 EV taxicab. I read up on this later that day, and apparently someone is importing them privately and leasing them to cabbies for 250$/week:

That is all, and have a good day yall.

I had to turn off and I wasn't supposed to be holding a phone in the first place, so no.

Cropped the pic so here's a clearer view of the crooked license plate

505 like all old school Peugeots were built like tanks so they last a very long time with proper care. But still, this is a very old car in what looks like normal daily use

BYD has a "showroom" in downtown LA, but still haven't seen any cars on the road.

      Per Wikipedia:

By March 2015 there were about 25 BYD e6s being used by Uber drivers in Chicago as part of a test program. BYD's dealer in the city offered several options to drivers interested in the e6, including a traditional lease or a lease-to-own program. The most popular program allows an Uber driver to lease an e6 for US$200 a week and use it for a driving shift, and thereafter the car is returned to a dealer lot, where it is charged until it is used again. According to BYD America Vice President, as of February 2016, about 80 units have been imported to the U.S., with about 50 of those brought to New York for taxi and ride-hailing purposes.

Maybe the 505 is now the winter beater to keep the other car nice?

      Love older Peugeots.
I gave up dailing old and rare cars and became a normie.

BYD has people working in NYC. They have a dealer (Milea Truck) in the Bronx as a dealer for their trucks.

There are lots of old French cars in Montreal being daily driven. Lots of French nationals who came over and didn't want to let go of them. Lots of 2CVs as well; a local bakery uses one as a delivery vehicle.

      Thats my old hood!

You used to see a few diplomats bring over some Euro cars as well. Probably doesn't make financial sense anymore as I never see them now.

The Peugeot 505 wagon marks the end of an extraordinary series of vehicles, the last of its kind. For almost fifty years, Peugeot built an evolving family of purpose built wagons (and light trucks) that had no equal anywhere. They may have shared the distinctive X0X nomenclature of their corresponding-numbered sedan versions, but were substantially different vehicles from the windshield back. With the disappearance of the 505 in 1992, a whole genre of vehicles died: the extended-length high-capacity rwd wagon. What killed them off? The mini-van, which certainly has its advantages, as well as a growing taste in Europe for sedan-based wagons. But for hard core wagon fans, the world will never be quite the same. Hail the last of The World’s Greatest Wagons.

Spotted this 505 turbo sedan a few weeks ago, in the same area as the wagon.

Must be the same owner. This one was very, very clean

There's also a guy outside of Dorval that has quite few Renaults, I sold my 5 GT to him.
