Might as well get a luxury sedan. Just make sure you get the lighter interior color and tint the hell out of it. Chrysler 300 with the cream leather might be nice. Or a used Benzo E class.
      I like bikes.

Flat, straight roads... meh, I'd just get an SRT Challenger Scat Pack. Purple.

Heck we even hold boat races here.
Sure people go fast in a straight line, but there’s no where to turn. Same problem I have in Chicago.

So a Corvette kinda makes sense down here, especially a nice 3LT with the vented seats, but it is a little unwieldy to drive in tight parking lots and stuff.

I was mainly laughing at the guy with the GT3 RS, or whomever is frequenting the Lamborghini shop we passed. Those cars literally exist as penis extensions down here, nowhere to drive them except freeway pulls.

Side note: I touched 100 in my Caravan today on 75.

Good summer tires = hooks in 1st gear

The storms are so bad my parents only feel safe in subarus; specially after my civic spun out so easily just driving on a straight line, even with new tires, it just took a strong wind.
I drive in Florida one week a year and Rain Tires is always the subject of my "if I lived in Florida" talk It's weird how slippery your roads get down there when it rains.

Being frugal, I'd likely get a luxury car, preferably a Lexus LS, V8, RWD, good Michelin tires. Light color interior and exterior. Great Florida cruiser.

For something a bit more fun, Charger 392 Widebody in Florida White of course.

As someone who moved to Miami 15 years ago and has owned and driven all kinds of cars here, the answer is Wrangler soft top. Five months in and it is the first vehicle that I'm not constantly playing the "what car to replace this if it was totaled tomorrow" game. BTW having a soft top Jeep is an excellent incentive not to leave crap in your car at night. If you don't like the sun--drive at night (or seriously figure out why you are living here).

The other correct answer is anything expensive and impractical. I've seen a Veyron at a parking meter on Miami Beach and Lamborghinis (i.e. more than one in the same day) at the public school drop off line.

I'm originally from Central Florida so I've thought about this considerably. Traffic has grown immensely and there are absolute lunatics on the road. The absolute best car on the road under $100k is a Model X. Reasons:

It's hot AF. So always having an ice cold car and never waiting for it to cool down is so money. You can even cool it inside your hot garage. It cools via the app or via heat protection feature which does not allow it to go past 100 degrees.
Safest SUV you can buy when some crackhead rams into you on I-4.
Bumper to bumper traffic is no joke so get you some Autopilot to help remove some stress.
AWD for mega heavy downpours or sandy shenigans.
Electricity is cheap in FL so your weekly fuel bill is a rounding error in your budget.
It's fast enough to hustle yourself away fro nearly everyone on the road discreetly.
Seats 7 with large amounts of storage and can still pull a small center console the short distance to the marina.

I grew up in Florida most of my life. You'll fit in just fine with one of these with the font torsion keys cranked all the way up. Just make sure you leave the back low.

First few weeks of rainy season... i guess after 20 years, used it and generally avoid I-95 in palm/broward at all costs and orlando too, what a nightmare of roads. Hydroplaned in the R32 once before haldex kick in on the off-ramp, that was interesting but the only time.

      one clogged drain and ...

what really sucks is the coral roads which eat your tires up quick. also the old people, the snowbirds, and vacationers who make for our expensive car insurance

With a "YO VIP" custom plate!

For FL, I'd get something like "fake rich" Genesis G90. Old man's car, good in a straight line, comfy, good warranty, strong A/C, lots of creature comforts, and can get you to the golf course easily.

I'm in Sarasota. Daily drive a trd pro 4runner, and have an s2000 for days where it's not raining and the heat is less than the surface of the sun.

This. Summers in the sunshine state are miserable. My vote would be a for a GM SUV.

I lived there for four years and will never visit again except during winter.

I hate humidity. And swamp ass.

Best Florida car? A rental car. Why? Because you have full coverage.

      Or a Tesla.
