I'm absolutely loving all this hate on the new Supra. These things are going to be an incredible value on the used car market in a few years thanks to everybody blindly hating on it, cratering resale values. Thank you, and keep up the good work. Future me thanks you for it. Also:
The company also tweaks the six-cylinder Supra's suspension by changing the damper tuning. There's also different tuning for the power steering, adaptive suspension, stability control, and active differential. New aluminum braces connect the strut towers to the radiator support for greater rigidity.
With a few different reviewers saying the handling of the production cars was less predictable and enjoyable than the pre-prod ones, I wonder if this updated damper tuning and new settings for power steering, adaptive suspension, and active differential are to address the handling woes on the 2020 production cars.

We’re not blindly hating it, both eyes are open, most people hate it because it’s fugly.

I cant wrap my head around the negativity many have about this car. Most of it is based off of nothing.

      TCL is a funny place.

It's an awesome, modern, sports coupe. The styling is modern, the drivetrain is modern, the performance levels are modern, the way it is built is modern. I get the looks might not be to everyone's tastes and elitists/ purists will never, ever be happy. But that's true with every car. EVERY CAR! Just ask the man whose favorite car is his 1955 Porsche 356 or 1971 Porsche 911 how they feel about a 2000 Porsche 996 or a 2020 Porsche 991 for that matter. And the Porsche 911 has perhaps the most conservative, traditional, linear evolution of any motor vehicle model ever continuously built for 56+ years except possibly the Ford Mustang.

My biggest gripe with the new Supra is that I'm fat, stiff, old and too tall to fit comfortably inside the cocoon like cockpit of this compact sports car built around someone with the build of an average F1 driver. I technically fit inside but the outward visibility is terrible and the driving position not ideal for me. The last time I felt this way was driving a Lotus Elise 15 years ago. I'd much rather have an old comfy GT car for weekend fun nowadays than a lithe and nimble sports car. Therein lies the paradox of expensive sports cars: the older you get and the more disposable income you have to buy them, the less they seem like a good idea.

Looks are subjective. I like them.

      Booty

My eye level view inside. Yes this is an accurate depiction.

Very low roof. Pillbox bunker vibes.

Here you can see my eye level is above the side window opening.

Thank goodness for the double bubble "Gurney bubble" shape of the roof. Sun visors block 100% view when in down position. On my Miata I removed them completely for this same reason.

Same. I saw one of these at the track last weekend and it looked so good when we were sitting at the grid -- strangely never saw it when doing laps, even though it was in my group.

I feel like with the 4cyl losing a couple hundred pounds and the addition of the LSD, you could make this car into a track monster.

The supra has never been a light car relative to the period correct competition so I don't know why you think it should be. Perhaps you're thinking of the supra way back when it was basically a trim option for the celica?

      2. The four-pot is some 200 pounds lighter than the six, and has a true mechanical limited slip. If price comes in at just under $40K I would say it's the model to have.
I mean, if you're buying a first model year car and paying over sticker, you're not worried about future price adjustments or tweaks to the platform. Also, nothing about what you wrote for #2 would convince me the 4cyl is the better option. I'll take an inline 6 all day over an inline 4, particularly in modern times.

The comment about weight was in the context of the other comment about the Supra being a grownup Miata. I didn’t see a real parallel between the Supra and a lightweight Miata, so I suggested a car that might actually have something in common.

The Supra isn’t a lightweight car like a Miata, it can’t compete with the Cayman, and doesn’t seem to offer much of a unique selling point or particular advantage besides being modern point-and-shoot fast. Is there anything class leading about the Supra?

A difference of 200 lbs in that nose should be noticeable for handling. I’m looking forward to the reviews of the revised suspension setup and some 4 vs 6 cylinder comparisons.

Did they ever address the awful wind buffeting issues with these? Last i heard people were having custom made wind deflectors just to make it tolerable.

You are entitled to your opinion, but when your opinion is negative for the sake of being different and to be "heard" then it comes across as trolling.

      Case in point

Turbo 86 = more weight on the nose + lower revs. No more please, the 230i still exists.
