I've searched extensively and can't find info on how to remove the fuel flap door assembly from my 2006 A3 8p Sportwagon. The body-color panel fell off mine somewhere and I ordered a replacement on eBay.

The couple of A3 DIY's I've found are for the sedan model and the assembly is different. There's a single screw, but after removing it there's no give or movement to the assembly and I neither want to break it nor start tearing the interior apart trying to figure this one out. It looks like the latch actuator is clipped into the assembly but there's no apparent access to unclipping it from the outside and I can't see how the assembly will come out with it still clipped in.

If anyone has any guidance I'd be very grateful.

      Thanks for the diagram (below).

So the issue is that the assembly (2) is hooked into the body on the hinge side. On the opposite end, the housing for the latch (10) is snapped into the assembly. To press the tabs to release it you have to get access behind the assembly. Until it's removed I can't see how this comes out as it's secured then on both ends.

Bit of a catch-22; can't remove the assembly without removing 10 - can't remove 10 until you can remove the assembly to access the clips. I'm sure there's an easy way designed into this for removal, just can't see it.

I could be way off here, but just looking at the diagram, it looks to me like there's a pin off of (7) that hold in (10), and you access it behind the tail light on the body side.

      (7) is the latch mechanism. It goes inside (10). The only access is for the tail light bulbs, cap shown as (9) and that doesn't allow access to the assembly further up the body. Looks like all the paneling inside the passenger side of the trunk has to come out
