I was hit and run before Christmas by a moron at a traffic light. See this thread:

      https://forums.vwvortex.com/showthre...tal-Out-My-Car

This part fell off the back of the guy's car when he hit me. The other car was a 2008 Jeep Commander. I sent the insurance company pics of the part as they wanted it.

I have looked online at diagrams and cant seem to identify it.

Can anyone help me with this?

Looks like the inside part of the handles that go on the rear of the D-pillars. They were optional on Commanders, so they're not overly common.

Oh, and did you really need to start three separate threads on the same topic?

Seems odd they want a pic of that if you know the make and model of the vehicle. Doesn't seem helpful. Maybe there's some DNA on it. Lick it and tell us what it tastes like.

This is only temporary, unless it works. - Red Green

Yeah I am going to take it. They raised it to $7K + $400 for taxes minus the salvage value of $795. So I will net about $6K from it.

To update here is what I found out this morning:

-The car is owned by a woman in another town.

-The car is insured by another woman entirely in another town.

-The hit and run drive was a guy whom is not on the registration, title or insurance policy.

They know the name of the insurance company and have the policy number. The car has not been reported to be in an accident nor stolen.

I really don't get why the insurance company wants to identify this part if they have all of the other relevant information?

Oh misunderstanding - the insurance just wants the pic.

I am the one who wants to identify what the part is.
