On my side, I ditched the lovely PS4S for some cheaper, stickier rubber: Kumho V720. Love 'em so far. Loud as hell but great dry grip. Super stiff sidewalls. Cold/wet grip lags behind the PS4S but whatever.
15x6, so they are gonna be a bit pinched. And Art is one of the people that recommended the Conti’s. I am worried that the Direzza on the rabbit are gonna be loud. Only other experience with 200tw tires are RE71s, and they are loud.

So, tires and BBS RAs installed! I am glad I didn’t go narrower, they look so tiny under the car. Tapatalk decided my spending 10 bucks 5 years ago is no longer good enough for VIP status, so I have to post each photo in its own post. So here is a picture of the super clean dash:

I usually avoid spacers, but with the ride height and offset are not working together. I may have to make some measurements.

Yeah those rears need to come out a hair. Had the same issue with my E9. Way too tucked.

Car's looking great! That dash is amazing.

These are 15x6 et35. Mk2 GLI fitment. I like how those ronals fit, I am gonna go play with a wheel fitment calculator, and see what it will take to get it close.

      Edit:
Apparently it would need a 27.7mm spacer to match that fitment. 20mm may be safe for rubbing and whatnot.

According to the alignment done by the previous owner, the rear is in spec. They were not able to get the front camber into spec, but it’s around 2 degrees, so I am not losing sleep over that. The front end feels a little floaty on center, at least with the old wheel/tires. May be worth getting another alignment.

I stopped work on the bmw to get the Rabbit rally ready. Well this happened:
Just swapped in a motor to replace the one that was knocking, changed some timing stuff, detonated, and now it has no compression.
So, that means the backup car is now first string.

Ordered more parts. Flywheel bolts and clutch alignment tool. 2,967.1

I wish I would have ordered them sooner, I could be doing the manual swap this three day weekend.

Any recommendations for extra parts to have for a road trip? It’s grumpy to start after sitting for a week, so I am thinking having a fuel pump isn’t a bad idea. Also, it has a slightly rough idle, so I am gonna grab some new spark plugs.

      Fuel pump
      Plugs
      Alternator/generator (?)

Those are the three things you cannot live without, and on an old ass car they're easy to fix and can absolutely ruin your weekend if you don't have one available. None of them take up too much space, so I'd plan on securing them in the trunk.

I was going to throw in a starter, but since it's a manual and you'll be surrounded my large weak men, you should have no issue getting it push started.

Maybe a wheel hub/bearing assembly? That can also ruin your weekend.

Keep brake cleaner and grease with you, too.

Replace the fuel pump now. My car had the original and it was disgusting.

Bring an extra crank position sensor.

OP, I know you've got plenty of time, so go ahead and make sure you get some livery on there ASAP.

I'm still upset you have not accepted my friend request on the digital book of faces. Also what motor do you have in the bunny? I still have **** tons of aba parts including a set of JE pistons, rings and wristpins for a motor that I was going to build. BUt I was going to do a 16v conversion so the pistons raise the compression by a point.

I'd add a fuel pump relay. I know those tended to die on E39s and always kept a spare one in the trunk.

I am kinda thinking that I will just buy a cheap autozone one, and return it if I don’t need it. The crank position sensor is a good call, I had one die on my eta.

Painters tape livery a al Drew and the Vololvo would be awesome. But I think I will keep it low key, to avoid imperial entanglements.

I have an ABA in the rabbit. Am I gonna just clean out your storage of incomplete projects? Higher compression would be troublesome.

Broke 3k on the COO: 3,045.13. Braking performance was not super inspiring, so I attempted to bed in the pads. 5 stops from 60 is all pads had before they stopped stopping. Not gonna rally on that. So, ordered a set of Hawk HPS for the the front. Had today off, spent some time prepping for the manual swap. Rebuilt the shifter. I have no idea how someone could do that in the car. It looks like there is no slop in linkage, and the z3 shifter feels pretty good. The left/right movement is a bit tight, and there isn’t a strong centering spring. Definitely see how a money shift could happen.

This is TCL. No one here money shifts. Each shift is precise and placed exactly where it's supposed to be.

The auto is out. I sincerely hope I never have to replace the starter, those bolts are the worst.

I love the Z3 shifter in my E24 but getting to reverse is a pita.
