This is a real score, Jon! Congrats! These are great little cars and such a fun platform. I moved from a modded Mk2 GLI to my E30 back in the day--it surprised me how much higher quality the E30 felt (not a single rattle anywhere) and how much more sorted the suspension was (save for lift-throttle oversteer).

This. I remember selling my mint 325is in 2005 for $1000 more than I'd paid. $6250 was *all* the money then. That would be a $15k car now. Sigh.

I nearly pulled the trigger on one earlier this month, but the seller was a world-class PITA. 325e 4 door (boo) with a 2.7/is head and injection swap (yay), headers (yay), sport seats, and some other stuff. It was cheap enough to make the work (and the necessary paintwork due to failed clear) worth it.

Because everyone ignores them for the most part. Like I just finished building a really high end 2054cc motor for my 58 bug. But if I posted it people wouldn't say a thing and it would be on page 12 by noon.

Wait, so you bought a car, and then a few hours later on the same day picked up the transmission to swap into it? Man you move fast.

Congratulations on the E30! I love the 2 doors but wouldn't say no to a 4 door either. Great looking cars either way.

      You're lying to us.

There's not enough people posting period to make anything drop to page 12 in one day. I don't like being lied to. Ass.

Do you plan on taking this car on any CRR events?

Nope. But, it is a nice backup if something catastrophic happens with the rabbit.

So, I realized I am well on my way to making a 4 door 325is clone. This thing already has the LSD, will soon have the right trans. It has sport suspension. It’s missing the valance, spoiler, and sport seats. It does have the 13 button OBC which I love geeking out on.

I think my money will be better spent on a shorter steering rack, rather than seats. But I will keep an eye out for blue sport seats.

Yes to the shorter steering rack. That, and the poor pedal spacing (for people with slightly wide feet), were my two biggest complaints about the E30. (Oh, and do a shifter rebuild with a short shifter. The stock unit is crap compared to a well sorted rod linkage in a Mk2.)

I was just shopping for shifter parts. Looks like I am going z3 shifter and full rebuild. Tempted to do a zhp knob, but the M logo is killing it for me.

The 325i m-technic was a thing back then, if that makes you feel any better.

ZHP knob is so worth it.

I had the UUC short shift with DSSR in my e30 sedan. Absolutely loved it. 3.73 lsd, sport seats, plastic bumpers, and great headlights. It was a very fun car. I redid the suspension, rebuilt a seat, replaced the cracked dash (what a chore). The guy I sold it to color matched the trim and it now looks horrible.

If I had any feelings we would talk about how this mean-hearted comment triggered them. Just so you know I placed your picture in front of my dog and kept repeating your name as I stood hooded over him and beat him with a stick. If you ever come to my house he is gonna bite you, a lot. He's like the ****ing piranha of dogs too, you've sealed you own fate.

It really doesn’t. Adding M logos to a 4 door seems way too “aspirational” for me.

That looks killer! I am stuck with the diving boards, unfortunately being an 87. And my dash isn’t cracked!

I wonder what the quality of a ZHP style knob from Lithuania is like: https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?m...2F391905270883

I am certain it isn’t hand hewn.

Oh gawd, not a 6 speed!

Also, that is only half way a "ZHP" copy. It appears to be shorter like a ZHP, but it says that it's 3.3 oz.

As far as I can tell, a real ZHP knob is 5.4 oz and a real OEM leather knob is supposedly 3.0 oz.
