      I can't wait.

For either really, but the car will get here first.... Hopefully, so that's top of the list for now.

As mentioned earlier, we orrdered the wrong part, so naturally, cost went up another 75 bucks.

Alex is going to bust out some work this afternoon and I am hopeful to have it back this weekend.

I honestly dont think so. I went over to service again today to pay for parts and I just had to stop and look at it. Man it sure does look good....

It will fit perfectly next to the garage in the parking pad spot

(crap pic, my phone kept trying to focus on the screen, but you get the idea)

Then once the R8 goes away, before the RS comes, it will live in the garage. Once the RS comes, it will once again be relegated to the side spot.

      Until I build a 3 car garage.

Dumb question maybe, but how do you get in/out of that garage? It looks like the garage is facing your house, totally fenced in and no way out.

Erik is correct. there is a full length driveway to the garage that leads to the street. Currently, the fence is not powered, but I found a couple openers on amazon that arent too expensive and shouldnt be too difficult to install. (on that topic, has anyone use these and or have suggestions on good gate openers?)

No, currently, there are no doors on the alley side of the garage. The overall plan is to build a full 3 car garage in the 3 or so years that would have doors on both sides. Depending on how difficult it would be, I would still consider doing with this old one. I am a fan of the double entrances for two reasons. One, obviously, its nice to have alley access, especially since the door on the photos right, is seemingly a little tricky to get into (i plan on using this side to make it easier for her). And two, for parties. We can use the full drive way and alley and have everyone feel included in the party, not just those in the driveway or on the deck.

Edit: Took a photo today while in service. First of all, my goodness it is dirty.

Second of all, it sure is a really good looking car and I really miss it and really want to get it back.

Man, let me tell you, the "ultimate timing belt kit" is anything but. We had to order more parts again today to complete the timing belt service. I hate that the label it in such a misleading way.

So I ordered the tensioning lever that applies pressure from the damper to the tensioner roller. I also ordered the right hand side of the engine cover, as I wanted it to look as it should. Meaningless in the grand scheme of things, but, something for 25 bucks that makes me happy, so why not.

Should have the car back to me at some point this week, I am getting antsy and I really need to give back my A6 as they keep asking for it.

I am still very excited to get this back, especially with buying the new place and actually having a little commute, I am looking forward to rowing my own gears on the way home when there should be very little traffic.

Third reason: you can have cars roll through for speedy maintenance work, like oil changes and servicing timing belts.

This is exactly why I didn't buy the timing belt parts for my Audi from ECS (You bought them from ECS, right?). I compared a few different vendors and noticed that the kits at ECS were incomplete, despite being labeled as "ultimate".

Oh well, you live and learn I suppose. I am just happy that I still have the A6 to drive while this is getting handled. They're asking for it back daily but the issue is no one gets B5 ownership, so I try to explain it to them and I think they walk away feeling bad for me, so they stop asking about it

Thanks for posting that driveway pic- that makes it much clearer. I like your idea of building a new garage that has doors on both ends so you can drive in/out in either direction.

Congrats. I have an 87k mile example of my own in Nogaro. Your seats look to be in great shape for the mileage compared to mine.

Good job getting all the timing related stuff out of the way. You going to replace the rear main seal while they're in there? Also DEPO e-codes can be had cheap off of fleabay, or you could polish yours up and do the morimoto upgrade (https://www.audizine.com/forum/showt...and-HID-Thread). It's pretty simple, I did this on my last B5

Here is the backside of the garage. You can see with the van there, there is more than enough space for a car. I measured the width to about 9 feet from the immediate side of the garage to the fence. I am trying to figure out a way to build an overhang from the side of the garage to cover the spot, just to reduce the possibility of hail damage and snow removal in the winter. I am no carpenter, but in my head, it seems like it would be really easy to build. Couple sheets of plywood, some framing and anchoring it to the studs in the garage.

Furthermore, if I do end up keeping this garage as it is for a while, I may add rear doors, as mentioned, but now you can visualize what I am referring to

I think getting something like this car port is a way better option. It may sound expensive, but by the time you figure out all the materials to the build the over hang, and given as you state "I am no carpenter", it will be cheaper in the end. More than likely there are other options as well, this is just the first hit when googling.

I am no carpenter, but in my head, it seems like it would be really easy to build. Couple sheets of plywood, some framing and anchoring it to the studs in the garage.

Furthermore, if I do end up keeping this garage as it is for a while, I may add rear doors, as mentioned, but now you can visualize what I am referring to
Nothing involving add on construction is ever as simple as it sounds. Especially if you need that roof extension to carry a snow load. You might be better served just building a standalone covering (properly footed columns/roof).
