It was a lease and BMW wants stated residual to buy it at lease end so I let them eat the $15k loss at the auction. I would have bought it if they were willing to sell it at market price (they used to allow that but no more).

Flying to buy cars and driving them home is a lot of fun...great way to get acquainted with it.

May just be a US-spec GTI and Golf thing. The US-spec Golf R and E-Golf also have the electronic park brake.

After having the electric park brake in my Rental, it's nice to have the regular handle back.

This is interesting. I thought the electronic handbrake was inherent to the MQB platform and could not be changed? On the other hand if there's a will there's a way. I'm only wondering why. Maybe I need to wait until the first expensive repair to the electric calipers

Do I spot a traditional handbrake lever here? Is it a GTI thing or an USA thing? Our pre-facelift mk7 has an electronic park brake.

Weird. My '15 Sportwagen has a real handbrake.

Congrats on the GTI! I'm nothing but thrilled with my 2018 SE. It's the perfect car for daily driving around LA and it can carry all my photo gear without any trouble. If I hadn't already owned 4 Tornado Red VW's I probably would be in another one...

I'll keep an eye for you around LA!

I’ve a,ways thought the GTI orR make the best case for having one car. But even if you have one dedicated “drivers” car, they still come out on top.

Here I am, showcasing one of the rarest cars in the northern hemisphere, giving you an exclusive behind the scenes look at my shrewd business skills, sitting in one dealer's castle while contacting another using my mobile cellular telecommunications device, all the while elevating heart rates and blood pressure levels to unimaginable heights as the threat of canceled flights loomed in the distance. What if the plane had to land somewhere else and the dealer wouldn't honor their commitment to me?
