Given the two following statements it would appear as if Mercedes intends to chase lap records this season before the new regulations slow these beasts down next season.

Mercedes technical director James Allison said Mercedes had worked hard on improving the car's aerodynamic efficiency, resulting in a car that has a lot more downforce than last year for similar levels of drag.

Allison added that among the improvements were an "adventurous rear suspension layout in order to free up aerodynamic development opportunity".
Excited to see how the ERA of Speed draws to a close. We are transitioning away from regulating the speed of F1 cars to and era were regulations are geared towards promoting close quarters racing. My main concern about these new regulations is how ontrack fighting will be judged. Id hate for F1 to devolve into the bumper cars of FE as if that is real racing.

Should of figured Alpha Tauri launch has been just a Fashion show. I mean who doesn't need 120 euro crewneck sweatshirts. https://alphatauri.com/en-de/c/men-sweatshirts/

Edit: Ok, it's actually pretty cool.

Alright, this explains why I was told "the car" is going to be white. Now it makes sense.

Oh racefans...good articles but really confusing moderation.

Anyway, we are all pretty sure Mercedes will break some records this year, but what about the rest?
Verstappen said the first run was really positive, so do they have any chances this year? My guess is only if Verstappen can keep the same performances he did in the first half last year.
I m not counting Ferrari in (but I wish) and this year will determine Vettel's future. Hope he is not swapped in the year.

I like the McLaren livery, makes the car look it has some sort of wings on the side where the blue starts

      Like adult diapers, it Depends

When teams make their cars it's always a compromise. It will perform well at some tracks and be hindered at others. Red Bull has a history of making cars that do well on the tight stuff. Mercedes wins races they should and minimizes the damage where they aren't good. They dominate because Ferrari loses the races the races they should win, giving a top team just another advantage.

Speaking of Vettel, as I posted earlier, Vettel asked Marko about a seat at Red Bull in 2021, so there's your answer on how he feels his chances are of being resigned at Ferrar:

Or anything like a Williams. Too bad they won't clean house, watching a team die a slow death is sad to watch.

I see Renault and Sports Pesa Racing Point Twitter teasers popping up now, nothing worth posting yet.

The Renault one is odd. They had a date, missed it, and now are showing us black and white teaser of a car that looks exactly like last year's car.

      --edit--

They are filming at Barcelona now, and attendees are starting to post photos. Pam-Halpert-same-picture.jpg

      Racing point.

If you change the red with some yellow you get a championship winning car.
      What? No?

So true, Williams is a shell with an icon's name on it. No amount of money would change that either, they're mislead, mismanaged and don't have in employ the right talent to build a car and run the team.

Fortunately for George Russell, he is young and can survive Williams even though the suffering in 2020 will be long.

The perspective of that picture gives the optical illusion that Perez is tiny!

It looks like F1 TV Pro is now available in Canada.

      $80/yr or $10/month

And KUB gets the first drive in the Alfa! Guess that sponsorship cash gets you something. Will be nice to see him in a capable (hopefully) car to see if he can really still drive well.

Has anyone attended the CoTA race? Thinking of picking tickets up this year and am looking for pointers on seating.

A few years ago we went up to Montreal for their Grand Prix. We got reserved seating on the hairpin, kind of a cool spot. What I noticed though was during practice and qualifying it seemed no one was checking tickets, only time of the race. So although we bought 3 days worth of the same seats, it almost made no difference what we paid for for the first 2 days.
The car that started it all! A work log and tale of tears (from my wallet)

EARLYBIRD25 for Americans, ends up being $60 for the year. Going to pull the trigger on payday and see how it goes for the year.
