Predictions were a 20K increase over the Competition, guess pricing should be out in the next week though.

So what exactly does this offer over a regular competition car?

So is this just basically a full F8x competition spec car or does it go beyond that? Seems like a lot of standard CF which certainly won't hurt things, but yeah, the cost will definitely not be close to the m2comp car.

I'd like a white one with gold wheels and the real transmission.

      M2 365hp > M2 Competition 405hp > M2 CS 444hp

You can option a lot of carbon stuff on the M2 Comp but it gets really expensive. $6440 for a hood, $5000 for fenders, $1690 for a splitter.

Wow, that looks great. Hope they sell a few blue ones with a manual in Canada so I can pick one up used down the road.

      BMW drops a 444-hp twin-turbocharged inline-six into the new M2 CS.

BMW takes the 444-hp engine from the M4 Competition and drops it into the new limited-edition M2 CS.
Only available for 2020, the only 2200 M2 CSs will be made; BMW hasn't finalized how many are coming stateside, but it'll likely be 500 or so.
There are only four options: a dual-clutch automatic, carbon-ceramic brakes, Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires, and matte-gold colored wheels.
Selling a car with a detuned engine leaves the possibility of more power, which of course comes with a higher asking price. So, when the M2 Competition arrived with a 405-hp version of the M3/M4’s twin-turbo inline-six, we suspected sandbagging and an eventual bump in power.

Surprise (not really): it’s happened. But, BMW skipped right past the M4’s 425-hp engine and went right on up to the M4 Competition’s 444-hp M3/M4 version for the newly christened M2 CS. A six-speed manual transmission is standard and a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic is optional. The added power reduces BMW’s zero-to-60-mph times by 0.2 second, to 4.0 seconds with the manual and 3.8 seconds with the automatic.

Keeping the quicker M2 on the road is the standard M Adaptive suspension. This is the first time that BMW has put these electronically controlled adjustable dampers in the M2. As in the M4, there are three settings: Comfort, Sport, and Sport +. Tire and wheel sizes are unchanged, but BMW-spec Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 rubber is optional and should provide track-bound owners with more grip than the standard summer rubber.

The brakes carry over from the M2 Competition—15.7-inch steel rotors with six-piston calipers in front and 15.0-inch steel rotors in back with four-piston calipers. For the few that need more stopping ability, carbon-ceramic brakes will be offered on the M2 for the first time.

Those optional brakes should lighten the car, and the owner’s bank account, but the good news is that the M2 CS comes with a lot of standard carbon-fiber parts that also drop the weight. A carbon-fiber composite hood has vents that are said to be functional and it weighs about half of what a steel hood weighs according to BMW. To further reduce the weight, and the center of gravity, the roof is also made of carbon fiber. Other smaller carbon-fiber bits include the mirror caps, spoiler, chin spoiler, and diffuser.

Inside, there’s a carbon-fiber transmission tunnel that sheds six pounds and Alcantara all over the place.

BMW initially announced that 500 units would be headed to the US, but then quickly called that claim back. Worldwide, there will be 2200 of the little 444-hp critters. Whatever the number, we suggest you act fast. The M2 CS will be one-year-and-gone run for 2020.

G42 and G87 are staying RWD but production is moving out of the Leipzig plant to the San Luis Potosi plant where a lot of the NA 3 series production also takes place.

If I was a big BMW fan, I'd be selling everything to get my hands on one of these. Love that a manual is being offered.

Seeing how those are not the black wheels, I guess they are the gold wheels? They're not very gold. They do look nice though.

Slightly beyond. From the picture...Alcantara bits in the interior, no center console armrest, carbon hood with the duct, carbon splitter, Cup2 Tires, carbon tunnel, limited production. Worth the projected $20k over the M2Comp? Nope. Will the 2200 buyers of it care? Also nope.

If I won the lottery, I do believe my DD would be a 6MT M2 in Long Beach Blue. money no object - I may even have a 235/240 convertible completely reworked into a M2 convertible. ::drool::

side note: is there a way to find out how many 235/240s were spec'd in certain trims/options/etc.? i feel like i've been searching for a unicorn for the past year now.

I love everything about this car. Since only 500 will come here, it's probably a safe bet that they'll hold their values well. Blue + manual + gold wheels + Cup 2 tires. Pass on the carbon ceramics.

Is this different from the regular M2 and M2 Comp? I've never found info to verify, but I assume the M2 and M2 comp would share a subframe design (and therefore mounting) with the solid-mounted subframe from the F80 M3.

They do, not sure why they chose to highlight that feature since it isn't new.

They did an amazing job of making Misano Blue look great in these pics though, I wouldn't opt for that color without seeing it in person first.

I love my original M2 but the extra 100hp, carbon fiber hood/roof and seats has me contemplating putting a deposit down for one as long as the dealer will allow me to do euro delivery. So far I've got one no to ED and two maybes so I may put a deposit down to see if it actually works out.
