    Thread: New M8 Spot

    1. 10-04-2019 11:24 AM #1

Agency I work at just produced this. I think it's pretty cool.

Running before the Joker in theatres across Canada.

      Sounds best with headphones.

The ad is good because you can't make out how ugly the new M8 it is.

I haven't seen it in the flesh yet but what I've seen of it in print and the internet looks pretty good, especially compared to their SUV's.

      Great question.

With this client, BMW Germany supplies the various country markets with stock running footage of the vehicles that they've shot.

In some instances it's already cut into enough of a spot that you could almost air it as is. In other cases it's just the raw footage.

In the case of this spot we used the raw footage and assembled it in the order we wanted and put a music track and SFX against it and then supers (titles) over top where needed.

It's mixed for theatres so it sounds great when seen there.

Reminds me of pacific rim, and not much showcase of the car.

Good for a quick promo leading into a meeting that actually shows the car.

      Congrats, you made a video!

Interestingly, the dimensions of both cars are very similar with the Mustang being about 2" shorter. Power to weight is also similar at around 7 lbs / hp. Obviously completely different market segments, but a fun fact.

I saw a 850m in person (observed it for a long time from all angles while in a BMW showroom).

It doesn't work. Nothing about it works. Not a single flattering angle. Changing bumpers won't help.

The shapes are all wrong, the details make little sense and it is just completely sterile.

BMW fell flat on its face with this one.

I'm sure they will sell a few.

I gotta be honest, I am SO turned off by the new fad of no music in ads or trailers, just THUDS and crescendoing screeches. It's so herky jerky, it doesn't do anything for me.

Is the prestige gap on the Mustang longer than the 8-series?

It's news to me if Mercedes dropped the SL class which has been around since 1954

MB didn't drop the SL, they are redesigning it currently. It might be on hiatus, or I remember seeing they discontinued the AMG versions, but it was all just in prep for the new model to come out.

Current stang is a great looking car, while costing half as much

then agian in 5 years the mustang will probably be worth 2x than the bmw

F**k yeah it is. I have a feeling this M8 commercial won't be as easy to find online as the Nissan one. Not in 24 years in the future at least.

That song just reminds me of this. One of the rare times when advertising made me go out and get something immediately.

I stand corrected yes the amgs are dead for now, but they said no more V12s for this model only the "maybachs"

I think it looks great, but I’ve only seen the racecar version in the flesh.
