I'm in the process of putting together an GTX3071r 1.8t Audi TT(MK1) Quattro. I'm looking for advice on BOV & diverters & im fully aware "our cars are designed to have diverter valves". I'm preparing to build my intercooler piping & I want to know which would benefit my application best. I have an apr R1 diverter. Will the R1 hold up to the added pressure being introduced into the system?

Go with diverter valve, as soon as you vent all the boost pressure, your AF ratio will go haywire. If you run maffless setup then it should be fine With MAF you want 0% of the metered air to leak out.
Is my Check Engine light broken as it never lits up

The R1 will hold, but why use such a lazy turbo(you'll see 20psi around 4600rpm)? Gtx2867r ftw. Got exhaust valves? Springs and retainers?

Anyway, I'd upgrade to a tial unit, they have products that can do both. I mean atmospheric dump or recirculation to intake.

Manley exhaust valves, just stock springs & retainers. I'm just looking to touch 400hp+ tbh. I agree that would be a better light to light set up, but I'm being greedy smh.

      A gtx3071 won't be a light to light turbo.

If you have 2 step dialed. You'll bog into second, then blow the tires off for 1000rpm, shift and wait for respool. Or you'll launch lightly and by the time you spool everyone else is gone. In order to take advantage of the power up top, you need showings, readings and exhaust valves. But even then, 7500 is as much as I'd push without cams.

I have 3 friends, ive done they cars on the side, on gtx2867, hitting 400whp on 93 American pump gas. No cams, no meth, etc. I tuned and built them. My ppt gt3071 spoold faster, much, than a gtx3071... i make 486whp. On pump gas. In a mk1.

If you want a fun, responsive, very quick car. Gtx2867r. Exhaust valves, springs retainers, rods, stock pistons with a fresh hone and rings, bearings, and arp connecting ros and head bolts. 1000cc genesis injectors. Intake manifold and tb upgrade.

      Good to go.

      But, your car.

I'm fully committed to the GTX3071r at this point. So it's not no turning back. I'll run it if it don't fit the bill I'll swap it out.

      "Fullboost"

Love that term. Depends on usage. Bov is cool but a recirculating setup it's much more efficient, improved transient response, not as violent post throttle under higher pressure.

I feel like a lot of people who ask this question are just hoping to hear some reassurance that they can use a BOV, because lets be honest they sound cool. You can use either and be just fine, especially on a street car where you're usually more focused on the experience and enjoyment you get driving it than getting into the gritty data points.

If you use good quality parts, installed properly, with a good tune you'll be just fine. A really good tuner can make a big difference despite of less than maximum efficiency hardware.

I don't have nearly as much experience as Vegeta, but he's right.

I recently purchased and installed pag parts vband kit using the g25-660 turbo and am running a tial BOV as opposed to the madmax diverter valve. Car is running great, and I am mafless.

You could reach out to max, but I believe he is running a diverter valve on both the hotside and coldside. Not sure what if any benefit is there.

FWIW I used to the madmax diverter valve on my gt28rs setup on the gli and that was with a maf...

still have the mad max DV if you are interested by chance...figured it couldn't hurt to mention it!

MadMax's DV is the best DV around for our cars.

How does the G25-660 feel? I've been looking at that or doing Al's V3 wheel. I currently have his V2 and love it. But more power is always the goal.

Hotside DV is what the wastegate is for. You'd also create fueling issues.

The v3 is a big wheel, you'll lose spool and gain power but the g25-660 should be very similar, might spool better though. Hard to say.

A dv setup is better all around, hands down. When in doubt, recirculate.
