Keep in mind that generally with the 3/4 series concepts, they are very close to the production car. Here is the previous 4 Series Concept

I prefer the F32/F36 over this.

That grille, hell naw. The rest, yum yum!

I kind of hate myself that I like the front end. I actually am not a fan of the side or rear. Side view looks too Audi and the rear is just bloated and odd looking. The rear is another i8 situation where it looks like its birthing out another car lol.

That front end and mundo kidneys are horrendous. The rest is sort of ok.

Sort of speechless why car makers seem to have lost their minds.

At the very least, I think there's some interesting sculpting going on in the front end.

Lexus gets a lot of **** for their front ends, but I think they also have some interesting stuff going on and when they nail it, it looks really good. I think BMWs have gotten quite stale and predictable at that end and I think the current design language has kind of run its course. Whether we like it or not, this is going to be the new normal, especially with the amount of sensors that are going to be on cars in the near future.

I completely disagree, the new normal is just being lazy. Lexus, Toyota, BMW, etal. don't even try to integrate sensors into a tasteful design. For example my 2015 GTI had a large square parking sensor in the lower grill that did not look good. By 2018 the sensor was placed behind the front emblem with no ill results.

Proper design does not mean taking the path of least resistance. Some of these designers are just being lazy, went to an online 'college', or maybe they have severe, uncorrected vision problems.

      Oh no.

They had such a pretty design, why did they have to put a pig snout on it? Or maybe it is the other way around, and the pig snout was handed down by decree from the powers that be, and they put in a lot of extra effort to make the rest appealing.

Really, I like the design, the lines are nice and clean and it shows a newer design language that doesn't leave me feeling they developed it just to say they came up with something new. It's actually pretty this time. But that grille, noone will be able to get over the grille. They'll keep talking about this grille for months. Other brands can pull it off, but for BMW... they are pig's nostrils. Trop is trop.

These aren't "kidneys" anymore, they're "lungs".

Cars simply don't need this much air-cooling, these days, to justify such large air-intakes.
This also makes no sense as a styling direction, as we enter the age of electric cars, which don't need air-intakes at all.

The funny thing about these monster grilles is modern cars don't need them. They can manage cooling with smaller openings and active shutters. And they are terrible for aerodynamics, which are increasingly important.

I hate it. The only positive is that the overall shape and proportions are good... maybe perfect. The front end is nice, but ruined by the grill. The greenhouse has strong Audi A5 coupe vibes, which I've never liked. What happened to the kink? Rear end looks like a more sculpted Q60

I was already warming up to the F32... their size struck me when they came out; they look like they should be 6s not 4s. But now they are gonna be damn near collector status. BMW what are you doing

This car feels like a combination of Camaro (side window outline), and Audi and Lexus coupe designs. It might feel new for BMW, but it feels very "contemporary" to its competitors.

Christ, I was prepared for ugly when I clicked the thread, but I wasn't prepared for that. Once again, BMW had outdone itself.

Carscoops has spy pics of the upcoming M4 and it definitely looks like there's a giant grille behind the camo.

And here are some photoshops that illustrate what might be in store for the M4:

Cue the next "emergency redesign" in 3...2...

Wow did they just place beaver teeth on the front of the car?
Did they really just rip Aston Martin's C-pillar?

So the production version will be watered down - except for the grille. Great.

    25. 09-10-2019 09:33 AM #24
We are at a point that there is no reason for the front bumper. The grille should be the entire front end with the headlights fused into it.
