I just purchased a 2007 Touareg with 75k miles from a Salvage auction that looks like it's in decent shape however I am assuming I need to replace the timing chains and all that. I don't know if the oil pump bolt has been replaced and wondering if it could be that.
It starts and runs and it was idling fine, I revved it up to maybe 2500 RPM and when you let off the throttle it make a horrible loud CLACK sound. It then idles rough. If you rev it gently and let off gently it revs fine. It also seems to go in and out of the rough idle.

P0366 - 004 - Implausible Signal - MIL ON
000022 - Bank 1: CMP Sensor (G40) / Engine Speed Sensor (G28)
P0016 - 001 - Incorrect Correlation - MIL ON
There was also a bunch of misfire codes in there that cleared.
The only thing that was confusing to me was in measuring block 208/209 there was no values at all under idle stabilization section. No label even. Just totally blank.
I get the impression my chains must have jumped a tooth. Just wanted to verify before I order all the parts for the timing chain set? Is the best place to get it ECS Tuning? Anything else I should replace when I have it apart? Do most people just pull the engine and leave the transmission in on a Touareg?
