Apparently they're backdating 993s Singer-style. Surprising, as everyone has always claimed that 993s are nearly impossible to backdate due to changes in the bodywork. Amazing stuff, IMHO.

The only back date I'm interested in is a slant nose.

I don't mind the original pop-up wing, or modern seats, but that thing begs for a better steering wheel, That's probably my least favorite wheel Porsche ever used, plus it just needs more of a more retro look in that department. Other than that, it's beautiful.

There's going to be a profitable business sector restoring restomods to factory configuration in a couple decades or so.

      Is anyone backdating Rav4's yet?

      This.

Singer, Kaege, and all other 911 back-daters should pool their resources and make 911 shells.

      Leave the OGs alone.

I think you're right . Much like some people are tearing apart 80s "Cocaine" cars today.

I too think the headlights are a bit odd, but overall they're sharp cars.

I agree on principle... but the only problem with that, is how that all-new shell changes the car’s classification and certification.

Singer can do a lot to upgrade, but the car is still registered, for example, as a 1992 911. You avoid a LOT of complication (and expense) that way.

Singer HAS to be running out of 964’s that they can use as a base for their builds - they won’t use cars that have been in an accident, and prefer that they have their original motors - so given the wait list, I’d think they have to consider starting with 993’s if they want to continue.

Even with Gunther Werks, the issue is that they still have to start with a whole car, as they need a skeleton (well, honestly probably more the VIN) to build from. Otherwise its "new car manufacture" and all the associated issues with that. So the Singer model of "reimagining" existing models remains - which begs the question, is the Singer DLS still a 964?
