I noticed a Volvo crossover thing sitting at a light had these wheels.

With "XC" clearly visible on each actual wheel versus just the center cap branding.
      Huh.. that's odd.
Are there any other examples of this?

Edit: Tried to hotlink a photo of the 3-piece 964 Speedlines that say "Speedline for Porsche" on the lip. It's lasered on or something, so if the lips have been polished, it's gone.

Shelby did this with some of his wheels back in the day. (Many people don't know, but Shelby had his own wheel company in the '80s.) Two examples:

#1: the Centurion wheel used on the 1986 GLHS bore the Shelby name

#2: the Fiberide wheel on the 1989 CSX also bore the Shelby name

That's what Fiat does with the Abarth wheels. It's not necessarily the model name, more like the trim level.

The regular 500 has model specific center caps.

Volvo did this for the R models in that generation as well..

Always thought it was a cool touch.

What is going on with that Volvo R wheel? At first I thought they were curbed, but it almost looks like someone painted the sidewalls of the tire black and did a poor job of masking the wheel.

Wow, I'd be pissed if my wheels came out of a shop looking like that.

Usually you only see wheels like that when there is a slow leak they can't find and they just seal the crap out of the bead with sealer.
Still, they could just wipe off the excess. (shrug)

I'm going to say that's not bead sealer and that R wheel is actually curbed. They were quite easy to curb... That's pretty extreme, however.

I just noticed this - those wheels are indeed mine, bought off craigslist. They were indeed badly curbed, and that’s not bead sealer, that’s from bad greasy tire shine attracting dirt. The wheels aren’t that rough now.

Lamborghini Diablo SE30 Jota, I love that car and the rims, but it irks me a bit that the Special Edition and OZ Racing/Magnesium aren't aligned the same way, just looks a bit odd like that
