The opportunity is high for Acura to kill the sliding door stigma. Only thing I'm not sure about is the safety aspect

Since the project is dead, I guess I can talk about it, but we were supposed to make an Acura version of the Odyssey but without sliding doors. I'm glad we didn't.

If you made it in AWD with sliding doors you could sell 10k in my town alone. Perhaps one to my wife.

Basically a Lincoln MKT without ecoboost but with an Acura badge.

So those old spy shots of what appeared to be an Acura badged minivan... that was a real Acura prototype and not just an Odyssey in disguise?

Honda has headers cast into the head for a while, that could be a place to bolt the cat-converter closer for emissions purposes.

Yep, that's what it is on the j series at least. Doesn't preclude a turbo in the future though.

Also a sh-awd minivan would clean up! I even think it would wear the corporate face well. Don't ditch the sliding doors though, we'd get an MDX if that's what we wanted.

Late to the thread with nothing of real value to add, other than that I think those images on page 1 look great. I’d give serious consideration to the TLX depending on power and driving dynamics.

Funnily enough my 18 just failed MA emissions. Apparently Honda/Acuras have this very strange "drive cycle" you have to go thru to enable the emissions sensors after clearing a CEL, which does not reproduce my drive patterns at all. I think it's mainly the 45-65 MPH cycle that I basically never do.

My wife arrived home last night and announced she wants a new car. Could we get her one soon please? She thinks she wants a new RDX. So I hop on the site for our local dealer, throw in her color combo and search for an AWD Advance model and...nada. And search all of Chicagoland, and there is one, I think. WTF Acura? She wants white. That's it, nothing super crazy. Should be easy to find?

But no. Might be a supply chain thing, the 2020s are coming out soon? Maybe? I dunno. We'll see this weekend if she's interested. Or maybe she will change her mind again, or make Smooremin's day and get a Q7. I dunno.

I've seen several 2020 RDX advertised on auto trader in Canada, so your theory sounds right.

Was the prototype a 2008-2010 odyssey with a funky grille tacked on that looked like it came off a ridgeline.

No. I saw a few pictures of the design and was disappointed that it was a Honda/Acura R-series.

If that Type S drives anything like an upper class Type R with SH-AWD (and looks like the concept) I'll trade mine in.

Advances are indeed hard to find. When the MKX' time comes, I'd like to replace it with an RDX Advance as well. Though they should offer ACC standard across the board.

Minor update from me, my wife has fallen in love with a verrrrry expensive house around the corner, currently for rent until fall 2020, and we are in talks to buy it when that lease expires, so we aren’t buying any new cars any time soon.
