Hello, I have great nostalgia for my college years up to and including my mid 20s (2008-2013). Can you please share photos or info on the cars from that era that are worth owning, whether they're boring-but-reliable Japanese and Korean subcompacts to the more fancy driver's cars. I like all kinds of cars, from city cars like, trough sporty coupes and sedans to MPVs. I even like some SUVs and crossovers as we call them here of that era, especially compact and subcompact ones. What were the stars of that era in your opinion? And what are the unsung heroes, those reliable or even fun things that people tend to forget? You can throw in some from the first half of 2014 in there as well, I remember some launch photos of some of the MY 2014 cars. However, I don't care for MY2015 and beyond.

Well when it comes to music, computers and cars it’s basically ages ago. Most models from back then have been already replaced by a newer generation or facelifted (some 2 times even). Others like the quirky, b-pillar-less B-max have been cancelled. Most MPVs have been cancelled actually and replaced with SUVs. 3 door versions and coupes are rarer. The world’s a totally different place now. I like the early 2010s much better for cars, music and even think Windows 8.1 runs faster than the 10.

      :

I always kinda liked the iQ on an aesthetic level as it's pretty damn quirk'd:

      But sadly,
the technical specifications were total lame-O.

Of course the lacking qualities can easily be rectified with Hayabusa or R1 or something - or better yet, more insanely would be an Aston Martin V8!

The cognitive dissonance effect is strong:

It is kinda crazy that Aston actually put out the Cygnet,
here is an old promo video:
      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y3OxRY4AbMo

"Cygnet is the bespoke luxury commuter car; it has the same Aston Martin philosophy of design, craftsmanship and attention to detail, allied to exquisite form and surface language resulting in a car of exceptional quality - just smaller."

This is mine, pretty good car for the money these days. Mazda/Ford CD3 chassis with short wheelbase, double wishbones, and a decent AWD system plus heated and cooled seats.

I miss the cut-off by a year, but my wife's 2014 Sonic has only needed 4 oil changes, and dude's already waxing poetic about it nearly being part of a bygone era

If only the dealer would've put a front plate holder on it...

      Drill, baby, drill!

Although, IIRC, those cars came with mounting holes and you can buy plate hole plugs from Honda.

I'm 34 and that sounds like yesterday lolol.

I guess this is like 2002-2007 era for me. Mostly a bunch of pre-recession garbage and early 300-horsepower wars. And sedans and coupes still reigned king.
