I have one question: where did you acquire all of these skills? You seem to be a fantastic fabricator, welder, mechanic, engineer, etc. etc.?

What is your background? Where did you learn to do all of this?

      I am amazed!
Thanks so much! Self taught thru decades of learning things the hard way.

Today, after getting the engine in place, I cut up and reconfigured the header for extra diff clearance.

The van is back on its wheels. Both half shafts are narrowed and installed. I rolled it back and forth a bit and jumped up and down on the hitch.....no funny noises and rolls fine. It does sit a little low but that is easily remedied!

Did a small lift on the van today by relocating the lower shock mount position.

How far away (in weeks or months) from first drive? Will you be painting the shell?

I would hope to take it around the block in 2 months. Yes, it will eventually get painted.

Today I got some work done on the engine output shafts outboard bearing and started putting together the jackshaft.

The diff is made up of the internals of an old school vw bug irs transmission. Just had to put in a few threaded plugs and weld up some small openings then pump it full of grease.
Yeah, the cameras have really come a long way haven't they!
