Completed the headlight swap. Apologies to the yellow headlight people, but here in CA, yellow lights are are an invite to get pulled over.

Car looks great Good for him building it the way he liked it. Back in the day I took a lot of heat for converting my 930 to look close to a 964 Turbo. The funny thing was it turned out to be a very popular car on the net in the mid 2000's. Any plans to add 930 fenders?

For me it's a toss up with the GT3RS. That said, if this car finds an RS Duck Tail on it? All bets are off.

The rear fenders are already wide steel 930 flares, with the wider 930 rear bumper. No plans to do the front fenders, as I kind of like the unusual look of the narrower front with het wide rear. I'd likely only do the front if I was also going to backdate the front and rear bumpers and do a whole-car repaint. But I don't see that as likely.

And therein lies the conundrum: ducktail or louvers? I like it both ways, so my plan is to buy a ducktail rear decklid from Getty Design, have it painted to match, and take off the existing decklid, but keep it so I can swap back and forth as mood or situation strikes (the ducktail one from Getty uses all existing hinge and latch hardware, so it is an easy swap).. Through time, i can decide if I want to keep the patina (which I find I now like) or have the existing one repainted to match.

Next modification will be side Carrera script, then lots of clean up, and the headliner replacement.

You have to pull the windshield and back glass for the headliner?

That’s my understanding, yes. But I’m going to talk to a couple upholstery shops that do older Porsches and see what the process entails.

With that collection get back with us in a month. It’ll still be “new”, but it won’t be “new new”.

OK, I guess it's time for a little sound clip. Forgive the air noise, I didn't have my external microphone set up.

I love the Wevo shifter on this car. Good precision, good feedback on shifts. It pops and gurgles nicely but that may go away soon (time to add new cats!). more importantly, the engine runs smoothly and has great pull in 2nd and 3rd gear. I got on the freeway and never even got into 4th and 5th, because 3rd is so much fun in the 70 MPH range for passing, etc. This car has a slightly lower RPM redline than my Turbo, but because of the 5 speed instead of the 4 s-peed, I feel like I don't need as long of a run in the higher rpms, because when I shift at 6000, the next gear still has me in a nice part of the power band.

People love these older Porsches for a good reason: the steering is light and direct, and the acceleration feels like more than it is. Just damn fun to drive.

That goes for most older cars, you don't have to go 100+mph to have fun, and they retain value.

      This!

And I greatly prefer the clear headlights. I haven’t heard of “imperial entanglements” over yellow lenses, but the less reason for attention the better.

Part of me wishes Wevo made a shifter for my Beetle and part of me is glad they don’t!

You’ve just described everything I want. 911, good shifter, direct steering, good gearing. Sigh.
