      2002/Seat/Leon 1.8t 4x4
      05-16-2019 03:32 AM #1
Hey guys just wanted to get my parts list checked off as im starting to buy things for this build and get a few questions answered. The car is a Seat leon 4x4 ( exactly the same as a golf mk4 4motion or an audi a3 8L 1.8t quattro, or if it exists a TT 180 quattro ) my poor friends in the USA never got the leon or the early a3. The goal is to have a fast little street car and going to some track days over here in Germany.

So here goes, any opinions and ideas would be appreciated.

      AGU largeport longblock 60,000 miles (150hp a3)

Wideband sensor (if i dont have one already, havent looked)

Ignitron ECU, or Maestro Tuning Suite (Ignitron is plug and play direct replacement of the ME7.5) (7500 rev limit) (unless valve springs then 8000)

VVT Chain and tensioner/4 window sensor *****(Can i wire this in directly to the ecu pinout? or do i have to get the entire engine loom and ecu from a car with VVT?)*****

forged H-beam rods and ARP rod bolts (unfortunately not rifle drilled) (is it worth going rifled?)

      Stock AGU pistons

      Supertech stainless exhaust valves

      valve seats all 20

      Valve springs? (not entirely necessary?)

      ARP head bolts

      T3 top mount spaghetti manifold

      Holset HX30 6cm, HX32 8cm (rare turbo), HY35 10cm, or HX35 10cm twin scroll (rare turbo)

3" downpipe with 3" 200cell cat at midsection (far from turbo) to 2.75" piping the rest of the way back

      Phenolic Spacer

      FMIC custom setup

GATES OR OEM TIMING BELT??? HELP???

      Metal finned water pump

E85 (255lph pump, 1000cc injectors, BKR8IEX NGK spark plugs, extra fuel fulters)

Upgraded Single mass flywheel and clutch

Custom TIP and Filter 80-90mm (RS4 maf?)

      Oil feed lines for turbo

      Oil Catch can

      Upgraded Diverter Valve

Let me know what you guys think, anything i NEED to add or im missing just hollar, if you think im dumb also hollar its no problem.

Update that list, a lot of 5 year old ideas in there. Like turbo, 1000cc for e85, etc.

Recommendations? Saying update that list doesn't really help no offense. My 450hp e85 Subaru was on 1000cc so that's where I was getting the idea from. The FAQs for the 1.8t is where I pulled alot of my info.

I was also thinking DW65v fuel pump over the 255 walbro. Flows a tad more and is a drop in for the quattro fuel tank.

As for the turbo selection I'm going based off of my own personal experience with holsets on previous builds. But I'd love to hear your recommendations of a turbo within the $600 turbo budget second hand. I'm all ears bro

Do the dw, they gave a bigger one.

Genesis 2 1200cc, but you don't even need e85 or 1200cc injectors to get 500whp. A gtx3071 or you can drop a little extra and go gp660 and get spool and big power and get that on 91or 93. Cat cams wouldn't hurt, 9.5:1 compression, definitely do upgraded aged 625 rod bonus not the standard 2000's, arp main studs, head bolts, crank gear bolt, fw bolts, etc. To the point it can be daily driven reliably and fukn sleeper.
      But.. pick 2:
      Fast
      Cheap
      Reliable

Message me and I'll give you my thoughts but I'm sure other guys will post up eventually.

I'm a Cobb protuner, maestro tuner and dealer, standalone etc.. I can help there as well.

Thanks for the recommendations! Much appreciated. As for the e85 vs 100ron (95-96 U.S. octane) I thought just running e85 would keep the temps lower overall, spool turbo a bit faster, help with det and timing etc, help the exhaust valves not melt. Also the car will be a track toy, driven on the street maybe 1 or 2 times a week. I work just an 8 min bike ride from home. I know its not neccessary but maybe it's a bit on the safer side atleast that's what I tell myself

You wouldn't for the 9.0 compression pistons? Any reason why? I'll definitely be hitting you up! I want an E tune anyways

I did both nearly 500whp on 91 for 230k and 10 years.. still doing it actually, except now it's 93 occasionally but mostly 100 octane.

You've been around on this thread forever... I'm always researching and going through the FAQ and old threads for information and i see you always popping up. pretty knowledgable guy!

Maybe it's better I ask the generic questions I have here on the thread so if anyone else is interested they can find the information it isn't burried in my inbox.

As for the more private questions regarding you tuning my car at the end of the build i will for sure message you, on top of that for longer questions not entirely regarding this post i will also PM you.

When that is okay with you atleast??? unless you really want to communicate only over PM. then we shall do that.
