      1986 VW Golf 1.8 8v Weber 32/36 DFEV Carb

As soon as I turn my engine over it will accelerate to 7k rpm. I donít have to touch the pedal and it also does it with the linkage removed.

I was assuming I have a large vacuum leak but Iím not sure. I donít think I could find it with carb cleaner cause Iím worried of it over revving and hurting something. Was planning on sealing up everything from carb to engine head with new gaskets. Iíve got some videos if anyoneís interested in seeing.

Also Iíll note that this carb is brand new, and it didnít do this right after installation but it started to sputter out at one point after installing and than the idle raised and stuck after getting it going again.

      Any input is appreciated!

My first thought is the return spring(s) have fallen off, or were removed. You mentioned linkage was removed.

I would make certain the throttle is closed. Take the air filter off and look inside.
