hi all,

my car just died and left me stranded.
has ran fine for years, went to the store.
came back out and when i started the car it ran really rough and pressing the gas did nothing.
it ran for a few moments and now wont start back up.
i'm guessing it used what fuel was in the lines and is now dry.
i can't hear the pump trying to prime.
i'm going to try replacing the relay first and see what happens.
then i will replace the pump.
my car is a 180hp quattro.
do i just need to replace the pump thats under the back seat on the passenger side?
please let me know asap.

thank you

i let it sit for a few hours and it started up and i quickly drove it home.
the pump is making sounds i never heard before and the car has some bad hesitation if i try to go for more than half throttle.
i went ahead and ran it hard through the gears and i'm almost certain the pump is dying.
car has 210k miles and most likely needs a pump.

thanks for the reply Mdispenn.
i think i can rule out the relay for now but definitely going to put a pump in it and sell it.

When was the last time you changed the filter? The pump's not bad to get to once you take the rear seat off, but if the filter is clogged, your pump will struggle. I replaced my filter at 150k and the new one was significantly easier to blow air through.
