      Has anyone used, had success with the replacement Door Latch / Lock modules from Ebay / China? Normally, I would not even think of this, but with all of the revisions, numerous failures of the factory ones, I am questioning if they can be any worse...

      I have learned waaay more about these than I care to in recent weeks, but interestingly enough and depending on year ( these are shared with a TON of cars ), ranging from the Huracan, Porsches, Toureg, other VW's etc... They are all made in Italy.

      My wife's 2010 TT is a split year for these modules, and I ordered replacements from Porsche because they were actually MUCH cheaper than anywhere (only to find that our build date is exactly on the split and I screwed up with the "Up to" OR "Greater than >>" build month... So, I bought ones for a later TT (Late Build 2010 and up).

      Essentially, the Differences (other than Right/Left) is the # of pins on the Connector.

      Ours are "B" and apparently that PR-4I2 from ETKA is supposedly on the option sticker in the boot (with I have not confirmed personally)

      8J1 837 015 B (PR-4I2) - 9 pin D Shaped Connector
      8J1 837 016 B (PR-4I2) - 7 pin D Shaped Connector
      D - MJ 2010>> - 02.11.2009

      Where as "D" versions are:
      D - 02.11.2009>>

      The ones I ordered from Porsche were:

      8J1837015D -->Revised to --> 8J1 837 015 F (Porsche# on box is 9A783721506 but printed PN on part is 8J1 837 015 F) - 7 Pin D Shaped Connector
      8J1837015D -->Revised to --> 8J1 837 016 F (Porsche# on box is 9A783721606 but printed PN on part is 8J1 837 016 F) - 6 pin Oval Shaped Connector

      ...There are also "A" and "C" versions (again depending on split year build date) and Options Data Code of: PR-4K4

      See all options here -> https://audi.7zap.com/en/usa/audi+tt.../837-837030/#1

      FWIW: I did take the Passenger side module apart so see if I could find the failure point.

      Too the little motor apart, clean commutator, oiled shaft, etc. Seems to lock consistently now, but still only unlocks intermittently at will There are parts that are potted in the plastic housing and guessing some capacitors, transistors, etc.

      What a piss poor design and crap execution!

      To add to the Option Codes I mentioned above, I found some VAG option code PDF that states:

      PR-4I2 = Central locking with radio remote control, interior release mechanism without SAFELOCK
      PR-4K4 = Radio remote controlled central locking

      It turns out that I decided to call the Porsche dealer, that I ordered the wrong ones from, and explained that it was my oversight and they said, no problem. Just pay for the shipping to send the wrong ones back and I will get the right ones on the way to the dealership. "As soon as I receive the incorrect ones for you, I will call to take care of any difference in price".

      This is the way a business should run! When this all goes through, I will post details of the Dealership and results, etc. You can not beat their price on these!

      Glad, I don't need to try and resell these incorrect ones...

      However, I would still like to know if anyone has tried the Chinese version on Ebay. Guessing they are produced in China for their VW OE market??

      8J1 837 015 B (PR-4I2) - 9 pin D Shaped Connector -> Porsche #9A783721502
      8J1 837 016 B (PR-4I2) - 7 pin D Shaped Connector -> Porsche #9A783721602

      Just to update, I had received the Correct Door lock modules promptly but just got them in yesterday. Both Doors are now locking and unlocking properly!

      The dealer I bought them from was Byers Porsche in Ohio. Very good place to do business with and best prices on these.
