I'm not spending $20 a month to get HBO to watch this. I have been watching since season 1 but the wife just got into so we have been watching from season 1 together. We will watch season 8 once she is all caught up. We have been watching 2-3 episodes a night and almost done season 3.
Also could the army just bypass Winterfell and attack all the other locations that are now unguarded?
Great intro to the new/last season!
There are only 6 episodes for this season so they can't be dragging their feet on this.
S8e1 was really interesting in that we, the audience, didn’t learn much of anything new. But these things “we” have known for some time, were finally revealed to the characters in the stories.
Most of what was revealed, we’ve already learned and discussed at length. (falling Bran not dead, Tarleys, Jon NotaBastard-Dragon-King, etc)
Great opening episode. I laughed that the opening line was Tyrion busting Varys' (lack of) balls. I also laughed at creepy Bran being creepy. That was a powerful closing scene between Bran and Jamie.
Based on the trailer for episode 2, I'm guessing Bran is going to cut to the chase once again and actually defend Jamie. Everyone except for Brienne and Bran think Jamie's just some back-stabbing piece of **** with no morals who made an opportunistic move to kill the king. Jamie's version is that he killed the Mad King, who wanted to "burn them all," but in doing so he saved thousands and thousands from dying. His whole journey has been a path of redemption and doing the right thing. Plus I think Bran will be like, "look, cut the ****, who cares what he did? We need all hands on deck to fight these guys," and then he points outside to the army of the undead. Prior to losing his hand, Jamie was regarded as one of the best swordsmen in Westeros.
