Diesel start into a gas engine 1.8 RV

I'm a fan of using the diesel starter because of the extra torque the starter has. The starter that you want to put in, should bolt up. I would try using SR0407X. This starter does fit [if you have a 020 manual transmission] and you do not have to worry about the bushing that does wear inside the transmission. If that bushing is worn, you will need to replace it and will cause the starter to bind. Again, using the SR0407X that issue is no longer possible.

Do yourself a favor, perform a voltage drop on the ground cable from the battery to the engine. If you do not want to, replace the cable [with a larger gauge]. It does not hurt to replace the power cable too.
