Yeah, and the effect is for the lights to dim as the strip goes rearward.

It would be 10X cooler if there were no break and it appeared seamless, but there is/it doesn't. It's okay, but personally I don't think it adds anything to the car.

I don't think the effect when the DRLs are on, especially at night, will create the desired "wow" effect regardless of the trim break line.

So, you would prefer the DRL strip to go all the way to the A-pillar and door?

I'm confused. How is it a 4 door coupe if it doesn't have pillarless windows? I mean maybe you could call it a Gran Turismo because of the hatch, but 4 door coupe- no way.

By that logic a Buick regal is now a 4 door coupe as it has the same hatch design.

One of the things that drew me to the sonata was the fact it comes in nearly the identical kurkuma yellow that my Arteon is. The color is striking.

I also love that it has cell phone nfc as a key like the new aviator.

"Coupe" is more about the roofline than anything else. If the style is compromised to make headroom in the back then it's a sedan. If the headroom is compromised for style it's more of a coupe. An air-cooled Beetle is a sedan, a mechanically (almost) identical Karmann Ghia is a coupe. Granted, there's no pillar in the Ghia, but that's actually a different criterium.

Front look fugly, look like no front bumper. The rest of the car look super nice.

Yeah it just seems more like a sedan with a hatch to me, like the regal. I don't get Kia stinger or Audi a7 looking at this guy.

Funny that vw considers the Arteon a sedan as well. I would never think it's a sedan with the frameless windows and rear gt style hatch.

I have to say, this new Sonata is really growing on me. I know I compared it to an Infiniti a few months back, but now I actually find it more attractive that anything Infiniti makes these days.

i do think this new Sonata is a very good-looking car, but i am bothered by what might seem a silly point to many....the previous one was praised for having about the most accommodating back seat of all the competitors....yet the cat was an inch or so smaller....which i deem intelligent design...the car seemed a slight bit easier to park and place on the road...and just looked a tad trimmer...the new one is just about the EXACT dimension as the Accord and the rest....

This looks like an incredible package for the price.

Still not seeing the appeal of the blobby fish face.

Wait - Did I hear right - The 1.6 turbo is less powerful and gets poorer mileage than the 2.5L NA I4?

I like the design in general - and the future availability of AWD. The disappointment for me is the fastback/sportback-style design, but without the hatch. Had they made the rear end a hatch, I would definitely have put this right in the same category as Arteon/Stinger/Regal. Without the hatch, it's more like Accord and Malibu - sedans styled like fastbacks but without the versatility and convenience.

In general, I like the styling, I just wish more would go with fastback/sportback designs AND actual hatches to fulfill the design promise.

wow I really thought it DID have a hatch. It's just a normal trunk, and normal framed windows- which means in NO WAY is this thing a 4 door coupe. It is a normal sedan with a slanted roof.

Torque curve is better on the turbo motor and based upon reviews is the better to live with engine.

I don't think the 2.5 has been driven in the US yet. All the FDs I've seen are the 1.6T.
