Last week my Yamaha Aventage RX-A3000 decided to call it quits. It was exhibiting some weird behavior (screen splotches, etc.) and then a power surge did it in. I tried everything to revive it, but it's not cost effective to have it repaired (8 yrs old.)

So, I'm currently looking at another the 3080 version of this receiver, but after two Yamaha's, I'd like to try another option and I'm currently leaning towards the Denon AVR-X6500H. It's ticks more than enough boxes and is priced well for what it delivers. I'm running a 5.1. setup with Oppo BD player, Aperion speakers, Hsu Research sub and an Panasonic Plasma HD TV w/ a Dish Hopper.

What are folks running at this price range, and anything to avoid?

      Thanks!

Fwiw, I ended up buying a Denon AVR-X6500H. It should arrive later this week and looking forward to hearing it vs my old Yamaha.

I picked up a Dennon AVR-X4500H back in February to round out my Atmos 5.1.4 setup and 4k TV setup in our bonus room. I have a Pioneer SC-1222 that I have in our living room for surround duty which the Dennon really blows away (to be expected with newer tech). I went back and forth between the X4500H and the x6500. I couldn't justify the price delta between the two based on what I was trying to do. I'd be interested in how you like the x6500 when you get it.

      $2000? That's a HUGE budget.

Factory-refurbished receivers from Denon, Marantz, Yamaha, Onlyo, etc. I've ordered from them a number of times in the past and always been happy.

You do realize the OP bought a new Denon in Feb 2019 right?
