So I ran across this car today. It appears to be a Dodge Neon with an El Camino type conversion done it. It did not seem like a hack job as the section behind the front passengers was a full body panel with window and had bedliner of some sort. I tried looking for pictures of other conversions but was unable to find anything.

Looks professionally made. I have nothing to add other that Inkeep repeating the name you’ve given it in my name with the most spanish accent that Incan come up with and I like the sound of it ¡El Neòn!

I like he left the rear doors in place. I wonder if he braced anything when he did it.

One day I would love to buy a cheap car that I can try to make a ute out of for fun.

I was OK with how it looked until I noticed the rear doors were still included.

There’s actually a company that makes kits to convert them for a few different models.

The Charger looks surprisingly good, Dodge missed the opportunity to do Rampage 2.0

Probably would be a small niche market not worth the effort if they did give it a shot. Maybe not much different than the market the short lived Chevy SSR and Suzuki X90 tried to break into.

This is the new venture from the guy that started Factory Five Racing, the guys that took Cobra kit cars from hodge-podge projects to real-deal cars. I'm not interested in converting anything into a mini-truck but I don't have a doubt that the engineering and finish of this kit is better than expected.

The SSR was already going to be somewhat niche by the price tag, and then the styling. Had they made it on the Colorado chassis they could of had got the pricing in the mid to high 20's for a good base model. It could of been a mild hit, but starting at $40,000. It was out of most people's reach for just a small rcsb. By comparison a Colorado was in the 18 otd price, and my 07 Sierra rcsb was $22,500 otd.

In Ohio, "truck" plates aren't specifically for pickup trucks like other states, they are used to designate commercial vehicles...

I just found out that Dodge actually had an idea to make an SSR-like truck before SSR even came out. There was this 1997 Dodge Sidewinder Concept powered by the Viper V10-
