This would be very smart. I think this is the secret sauce that has kept the 911 and Corvette going for so many generations. You go more than 2 or 3 years without updates and sales fall way off, making it harder to justify the car continuing production at all. Regular updates keep it fresh and exciting. They also make each model a little more collectible because they're more unique. Not just a generation, but a specific year within a generation, and that year means something.

Well there goes my dream of Toyota collaborating with Mazda on the next MX-5.

Huh. A legit replacement to the MR2 could be very interesting. I'd like to see how that would work and the overall execution, but I love the idea of this.

I wonder if the bolded is code for "battery manufacturer".

The local dealer had one sitting in the showroom, so I stopped by to take a look. The car looks much better in person than it does in pictures or video, I think. Very nice in black. They were also asking a $5k markup.

Funny you say that. I was at the Toyota/Mazda dealer today getting the Miata serviced.
They had a black Supra on the showroom floor. It was stunning. I couldn't stop looking at it
They also had a red one on the floor. The red was nice, but I'd take the black.
      Definitely look better in person.

I think most sports cars look better in person. In photos we kind of normalize the proportions against other cars, but in person the scale is obvious and it's clear how low and flat they are.

This thing looked mean. $56,000?! Looks way more expensive than that. What a deal!
