I searched so hopefully not ROZAP, did you get anything car-related as a gift this year? I ended up getting the pads and rotors for a Spec-B brake upgrade on the Outback, and I decided to try a master cylinder brace to get rid of the squishy brake peddle; I'm debating stainless lines. Also planning to get an alignment, Santa didn't leave a gift card for that though.

What cool car stuff did you get?

I did, bluetooth kit for the E46. I retain the factory head unit, amp(s?), speakers, etc. This little dude sits behind the stereo.

I need to find time to install it.

I got a gimmicky windshield wiper blade cutter that’s meant to extend the service life of your wiper blades. The idea is that it thinly slices away the outer layer of the rubber to expose a fresher, cleaner layer underneath. Supposedly you’re only supposed to do it two times per blade and the cutter actually has two different width cutters, one groove for the first shave and another groove for the second shave. No idea if it works. Instructions were in German.

I buy the cheap blades at Walmart, they're like $5 a piece. They last for quite a while.

Leave it to German's to decide that $10 every 3-4 months is too much, and find a way to relieve the cost.

I tend to always buy $25-$35 wiper blades. The Germans are also really big on using gummi plfege to keep their wipers in optimal condition. Although personally I prefer nanoceramic coatings on the glass itself.

My supremely cool partner heard me geeking out about 000 magazine earlier this year so she got me a copy of issue 002.

Silly expensive for a magazine but it's so much more special than that. More of an heirloom photobook with such in depth stories and meant to be enjoyed and referenced for decades.

wait... you go thru a new set of wiper blades every 3-4 months? and call that quite a while? I replace mine biennially (guessing). I cut the "blade" part off the rear wiper so it's wiping with the block of rubber, and it's the oem 2010 blade (works perfectly, and is indestructible).

      _______

back on topic; the closest 'car related' gift i received: my folks got me a metal sign reading "What happens in [insert name]'s garage stays in his garage". I collect brewery signs and display them in my garage. this looks to be what a 13yr old boy would hang on his bedroom door during his 'stay out' phase. anyone want a sign with my name on it? it's the thought that counts.

There are some things in this world that I simply don't have the energy for.

Modifying my wiper blades is one of them.
