      Vettel's fight has already begun:
By his own admission Vettel accepted that at times he failed the team by not bringing his A-game when it mattered this season and, as a result, a very good chance of dethroning the might of Mercedes and Lewis Hamilton went begging.

Now, after the Pirelli test in Abu Dhabi, with Leclerc ending the final day faster than all, including teammate Vettel who was three tenths slower a day earlier in the same car.

It would be fair to say that Vettel and Raikkonen had good a relationship during their partnership in red, but it was also clear that the German was number one in the team and the Finn often playing second fiddle until, of course, he learned at Monza his services were no longer required.

And notably, the #5 Ferrari never won a race after that!

The silver car being faster played a bigger role in that than Kimi leaving...

Oh, you're right, the writers do have to spice it up though! And they will make much hay over any comparison between Leclerc and Vettel.

Leclerc's first qualifying session may be the most hyped and viewed too next year. We all want to see how he gets on. I still say he's gonna wreck a lot of cars though, Ha!

Every year around this time I tell myself I'll go to an F1 race in the upcoming season.

      And then I don't.

(looking at my portfolio with worry!) If I make it to retirement my savings will allow much travel and F1 races will be a thing. If you could pick two F1 races, what would they be?

I'll be there as usual. If I have any extra paddock passes, I'll let you know since I've still got a picture for you (that I can't seem to find a box for).

I will be staying 20 miles / 30 min drive from Hockenheim on the July 28th weekend and 380 miles / 6 hr drive from Budapest on the Aug 4th weekend with no set plans other than to relax, see relatives, show my family some new sights and drink beer, yet am not going to either.

Hope you retire within 10-12 yrs or enjoy the quiet!

As for the 2 best, my recommendations:

If you live in the US and have never been before - I recommend COTA and Montreal (then Mexico). Both offer a great experience. Both would be nicest to your wallet.
If you've done those and are looking for the best fan/travel experience in a nice location - Monza. If you have a bit more $$ and more time to spend - Albert Park.

You can roll with me to Austria or to Thailand for the MotoGP race.

      IMO you aren't missing much.

I went to Montreal this year, I'd 100% rather have watched the race on TV and just spent my day exploring Montreal instead.

MotoGP is higher on my list than another F1 race, but tracks like Spa, Monza, Imola, and Silverstone still have me wanting to attend an F1 race regardless of my current interest (or disinterest).

Mugello is awesome. I had a blast, and the surrounding area sure helps too.

Only a few more years of you saying this until the Las Vegas GP comes around.

But seriously, if you are going to go, Montreal is one to target, because the city and people during the week of the GP are just awesome.

As for viewing, Brazil is great, as from the back straight grandstands, you can see almost all of the track except for the front straight.
