16-17 years ago I ran over a dislodged manhole cover at 70mph on a highway and it "cut" the fuel line and a whole bunch of other stuff on the underside of my Taurus SHO, car stalled out in a lot of traffic and I had a lucky split second to nurse it over onto the shoulder with no power steering, brakes, throttle, nothing.

Ask me what I think of manhole covers...

Question for you both: is Formula One driving today too reliant on manhole covers, with twenty or more per street track? Are you under pressure to avoid them? What are your future wishes? Less manhole covers, more?

If you want to spice up the action, leave em open.

As long as there's street tracks there will be manhole covers. They aren't a problem, not properly preparing for a race weekend is the problem.

Fully agree. It's just that I read your original post in the voice of Walter Koster.

      Helmut Marko:

"Formula One ‘maybe too difficult’ for women, says Red Bull chief adviser Helmut Marko.

The 75-year-old doubted that women were strong enough to cope with the immense G-force that comes with racing in F1 or the heat of the cockpit and therefore none of those competing in the W-series would graduate to Formula One.

“These are huge physical demands, and that is maybe too difficult and too strenuous for women,”

If you’re driving at 300km/h and have a wheel-to-wheel fight then brutality is part of it. I do not know if that’s in the female nature.

“There are now power brakes, but still you have to go in there with a lot of effort.

“You’re encased, and temperatures in the cockpit are 40, 50 degrees. The hot cables run past you.

“We’ve seen top drivers who were just about to collapse in Singapore, and I think the physical strain is way too big [for women drivers].

“You have to be fit in Formula 1, and you need an insane power from the shoulder.

“These are huge physical demands. And that is maybe too difficult and too strenuous for women."

Not as much drama in FP3 but many drivers did miss corners and had to take the escape/run off areas. Hamilton visited them yet again on his last lap, ending up second on the day to Bottas.

Leclerc likes this track and it shows, from the in car camera you could tell that he was just smashing it. Topped the practice chart again.

Everybody is fighting for grip and struggling with braking points. It's a tough track, I like it. Looking forward to qualy.

Holy hell Kubica. Turned in too early.

      Ricciardo barely made into Q2.

There were rumors that they might get bought out. The current management has made them a hollow shell as team and a joke on the track.

Hate it for Russell, I would like to see him in a better car

Correct. They said their FP1 crash will have big financial implications and now they have another car on the back of a flatbed.

So did RBR and Gasly have a 'talk' with targets/ultimatums? Or did he finally snap out of a funk?

I hate that this happened to Leclerc but I'm also excited to see how he climbs up from the bottom tomorrow. We could really see some magic from him...

He's still P5 and could make it through to Q3 Can they change the parts like for like and still start P10?

I remember when Hamilton smacked the wall here in '16, I felt it was the beginning of the end if his run that year.

It's a tough track but Leclerc, sans this wall wallop , can get around here good. Part if being a champion is overcoming adversity. I too hope to see him battle from the back.

I always enjoyed watching Vettel come through the field, he's ruthless.
