2.5' longer than the JLU, dunno if that includes the spare or not. Too long for me to practically fit in the spot it would need to live. I think I still prefer the wrangler, but this thing is cool for the same reasons. I'm sure we'll see them everywhere.

edit, although thanks to a comment on jalop:
Nifty! When you take off the doors and roof, you can put them in the bed and take them with you...
now I don't know wat to do!

I always thought the Jeeps the IDF use were cool. Apparently they send Jeep chasis over and they get assembled to their spec. Very Land Rovery.

can't link pics for some reason

If I was in the market for a Canyon/Colorado/Ranger, id probably jump over to this.

I like the concept of it. Have no desire to own one over a Wrangler

I meant the spare on the JLU. I'd assume it does, but I dunno!

So with the soft top, you can't just throw it to the back like the 2 and 4 door? OK, with the 2 and 4 door, you have to remove and stash the side and rear windows somewhere. At home? So with the Gladiator, if you want to lower the soft top, you have to dismantle the whole thing? Then roll it up carefully and place it in the cargo bed? Or leave it at home?

Grant it, if one could lower and stash the top like the 2 and 4 door, it has to go somewhere so it would eat up some space in the cargo bed. Correct? And it probably won't work with a bed cover. But I ain't complainin' b/c if I were to get one, I would just get the hard top.

I'm suddenly wanting a full hard top that also covers the bed making basically a jeep version of a defender 130 wagon...

I imagine the amount of accessories is going to grow even further off the charts now that a Jeep has a factory bed on it.

I have the weirdest boner right now. I would rock the crap out of this exactly as it sits. Silver paint, black wheels and all. Doesn't even need to be a JL, JK would be fine with me.

All the benefits of Wrangler (cool looks, fun features, off road, ability to be convertible) plus ability to haul crap AND the ability to tow our classic cars to events or...more likely...repair shops? Yeah now I really want one.

I'm not dissing on this thing at all, as a matter of fact as stated earlier i'd love to have one. But in my experience with my buddy's 23' wake boat (similar to this), i'd love to see the Jeep pull that thing out of the water at the boat slip. I'm going with the odds that it can't.

Which specs exactly are you basing those odds on?

I thought you only liked Jeeps that originated in foreign countries.

I just want a regular cab JL pickup, but made by the Japanese with a 4 cyl stick shift turbo diesel and with a 3-across bench seat and bread van manual slider windows. Is that so much to ask?

What do you see as the limiting factor? Weight/traction on a steep boat ramp where a heavier truck would have more mechanical grip?

I realize the tailgate is down here but man does that thing look long.

Wonder how the approach and departure angles will compare to the rest of the segment?

Well approach should be the same as there really is no front changes. jl appears to be 42-44 depending on trim

The break over is going to likely be where any clearance is noticed as it has a ~20" longer wheel base than the JLU and close to 40" more than the JL.

Departure not sure obviously a bit worse with that overhang, looks like 32-37 depending on trim for a jl

But that 137" wheelbase is probably where it gets a lot of the towing capacity from.

I do not like Jeeps with 4 doors. I think they look much better as 2 door vehicles. They just look half baked with four doors. It is like making a 4 door corvette some things just should not happen IMO.
