Except these prices are out there because FCA is putting 15% and 20% discounts on them right off the bat. Ours was 26% off sticker without much haggling at all. Not a stripper: lighting package, heated seats/wheel, hemi, big tank, brake controller.

Good to hear, or at least good for consumers. Hopefully not a sign of more bad times ahead for FCA.

If you are going to wheel your Gladiator, buy sliders and a full belly skid first.

Has anyone made a kit to 'bob' or shorten the bed yet?

Also, I really wish this came in 2DR.

      Haven't seen one.

I'd venture to guess that anyone who wants a 2 door will just stretch and add to a JL not shorten the Gladiator, like people have done on every previous generation.

Someone in my town has a grey one with 37" tires (i think). License plate is BELTFED, of all things.

It looks a lot better with upsized tires.

It would be way cheaper to just put a modest lift and 37s on the Gladiator instead, or possibly even similar in cost to a serious lift with new axles and 40s depending on how well you want a bobbed version to work and how expensive the shop you have doing the custom frame, body, and paint work is. Best of all, going with 37s or 40s will address the breakover angle too. Plus it would look amazing compared to a bobbed Gladiator on stock tires.

Why have all that belly dragging wheelbase if you don’t want/need a big bed?

      Go JK-8.

See, everyone laughed at me when I called the Gladiator a Wrangler Limo who's laughing now?

Why does it matter anyways? Most of these Gladiators are just expensive convertible mall crawlers for the whole family

Saw a white one on the way in today, stock, which are still a little odd looking. Which reminded me I needed to go check one out up close. Then I popped over next door to see what they had in today and what do you know..

Just getting front leveling spacers. Sport with a soft top but had 35 Nitto A/Ts. Keep popping my head in but it isn't back on the ground yet.

      Why face palm?

Pretty cool to be able to get a 4 door convertible. 4x4 and a Manuel are icing on the cake.

Mrs. Poorhouse 's JKU is awesome. I like to have a pickup bed and tow a ski boat. I'll be looking hard at a Gladiator for my next vehicle.

Jeep Gladiator Gets Even More Rugged as a Military-Spec Vehicle
Jeep and AM General could re-enlist with the U.S. Army as soon as next year.
      https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a2...military-army/

The XMT stands for "Extreme Military-Grade Truck," and this concept truck is pretty extreme. From these photos released by AM, we can see a beige model with the doors and roof removed and a huge brush guard mounted on the front bumper. There are two other variants, with one looking somewhat like a transport vehicle. The XMT is fitted with massive BFGoodrich tires, two 4x4 systems, locking differentials, skid plates, and tow hooks. It has a 54-degree approach angle and a 30-degree departure angle, making this concept truck even more off-road capable than the already off-road capable Gladiator on which it's based.

The truck weighs in at about 12,800 pounds, and the winch can withstand up to 12,000 pounds. Keep in mind that the already highly capable standard Gladiator has 7650 pounds of towing capacity with the Max Tow package and up to 1600 pounds of payload. The XMT matches both of these numbers.

Additional XMT options include a heavy-duty suspension, 37-inch wheels, troop rollover protection, a central tire inflation system, and armor.

It will also be offered with a turbo-diesel engine. Jeep previously announced that a 3.0-liter diesel V-6 will be offered on four-door Unlimited models of the Gladiator by the end of this year.

Production will happen based on interest from the military community, a.k.a. the U.S. Army. We haven't seen a military Jeep for a while, and AM appears pretty confident that production could start in late 2020. The company will custom tailor XMTs to meet mission-specific requirements from military customers, which means we could see some pretty cool variants of the XMT in the future.

In our first test of the 2020 Gladiator, we called it "off-road gold." We can't begin to fathom what this even more capable military version will be like, and we hope civilians get the chance to climb into one.

There are few, if any, practical 4-seater convertibles on the market that look good. The Gladiator might be the only one.

I agree it's cool. However that long wheelbase makes it look goofy imo.

The BFGs are nice but are didn't end up on the 8 lug mil spec axle in the rendering.

Sporin I agree the JK bodykit has the right proportions.
Even the Mopar 2 door at SEMA needs a bob.

The Extra 6,000 lbs could come from Armor Plating, Bullet proof windows, reinforced frame, tire inflation system. beefed up Suspention, Stronger Roll bars, and whatever that thing on the rear is.

let's not forget a lot of plating goes under the chassis for IEDs. What I want to know is how they got the cooling system improved, since that's the main reason why it can't tow/haul more - the radiator can't be bigger without redoing the grille.

It's doesn't weigh 12,800lbs. It's GVWR is maybe 12,800 lbs depending on the source with a payload of 1500-1600 depending on source.

An m1097a2 has a GVWR of a little over 10k, it was about 6600lbs.. this doesn't weigh double that while having 1/3 the payload.

I suppose the writers and editors of C&D lack the understanding of the English language then?

I've got no idea what C&D and other news outlets are on when reporting this weight, but AM General is very specifically stating that the entire point of this is to offer a light weight tactical truck.. nearly 6.5 tons is not light weight.

      AM General:

      http://www.amgeneral.com/news-events...gladiator-xmt/

Hell 12,800 might be the COMBINED weight rating with a trailer because really 12,800 GVWR is kind of insane for this size truck. I think the GVWR of say ram 3500 SRW is only like 11,500 or so lbs, just for a comparison.
