Other than the Vortex sub forum? I don't think there is really any active ones specifically for Cabby's. At least not in a typical forum format.
I imagine Bookface or other social media platforms have groups for the sort.

Doesnt give answer I need lol . I have an 88 . ABA 2.0 block , 1.8 head . I want to run the knock sensor set up . But I need to know what year stuff to buy (knock wont use vacuum on distributor) . Also , factory knock sensor position on an ABA block .

No definitive answer anywhere . So until I can find the needle in haystack that has done this so called old common swap I'm dead in water .

      Thanks for replies

Link to the Cabriolet forum if you hadn't found it. I find the folks in there to be pretty responsive and helpful.

Whaa? No ABA ever had vacuum advance. 1.8 head, do you mean a 16V head? Even that combination isn't hard to get going, there is plenty of info and kits out there to get up and running in short order.

I know the ABA doesn't have vac advance . I have the distributor from ABA in it . Was done by previous owner . I'm trying to get it running . I have been told I have to run the 1.8 distributor because the head is 1.8 . I don't want to use the typical CIS vacuum advance . I want to do the knock setup . That setup doesnt use the vacuum, different distributor . But which is one ? What year ?

I still don't follow what you're saying. Why not just use the complete ABA?

Trying to get car running as it is . According to things I've read these are common mods/swaps . Plus it a higher compression 10:1 in that combo . That is reason for needing knock sensor setup . What I don't know is which years I need parts from .

I feel like an idiot . In front of me , sort of , whole time . Been reading and rereading all this crap for weeks . Distributor needs to come from a CIS E system with factory knock system . 85-88 GTI/GLI and 86-89 16V.

Some pics would help and you will get better info from the cabriolet forum. But you can't use a 16v distributor unless you have a 16v head, totally different from a 8v distributor that mounts in the block.

The info I quoted is in the links I posted above . I can only go by the info I find . I've searched that forum. I posted in hybrid , which is what my engine is . So I asked initial q here .
