So for fun, I've been looking into a swap project I'll probably never be able to afford... because why not? This involved taking a 3.6l VR6 and 4motion (gen 2 or 4) and swapping into a Mk5 Rabbit/GTI. All the swaps I've seen using MK5s all revolve around using the 08 R32 components, and obviously that makes sense. However, 08 R32s are not as plentiful, so they are harder to find wrecked AND can be a lot more expensive because of it. Now, from the research I have done, the Tiguan is basically just a taller version of the MK5 and have even read that by changing shocks and springs for the ride height, they swap no problem. The B6 is said to just be a longer wheelbase version of the Mk5 chassis, and several of these parts are identical. The oem rear sway bar is the same for the Tiguan and Passat, the trailing arms are all the same (whether it's 4motion or not, I believe), and the axles are the same. The difference in rear track between the B6 and MK5 is 57mm... in my mind, this makes a strong case that the B6 4motion rear setup is the same and would bolt up to the MK5 chassis. I haven't been able to find any concrete evidence on this though, so any help would be great.
