      Technical Highlights

      • Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX): A completely new multimedia system featuring innovative technology based on Artificial Intelligence and an intuitive operating system. MBUX technology is pioneering a new level of in-car experience. MBUX can be operated by Voice Control, the Touchscreen (a first for Mercedes-Benz vehicles), Touchpad and Touch Control Buttons on the steering wheel. The system has learning capabilities and intelligent Voice Control with natural language understanding and a verbal cue of "Hey Mercedes."
      • Intelligent Drivetrain: The EQC features an all-new drive system with compact electric drivetrains at each axle. These give the EQC the confident and dynamic driving characteristics of an all-wheel drive vehicle. To reduce power consumption, the electric drivetrains are configured differently: the front electric motor is optimized for best possible efficiency in the low to medium load range, while the rear e-motor adds sportiness. Together, they generate an output of 402 horsepower and a maximum torque 564 of lb-ft.
      • ECO Assist System: Gives the driver comprehensive support when driving predictively: by prompting the driver when it is appropriate to lift off the accelerator--for example when the vehicle is approaching a change in speed limit, and by functions such as coasting and specific control of recuperation. For this purpose, navigation data, traffic sign recognition and information from the intelligent safety assistants (radar and stereo camera) are linked and processed.

      Model Positioning
      • The all-new Mercedes-Benz EQC will be the first Mercedes-Benz vehicle to be launched under the EQ brand. As the Mercedes-Benz of electric vehicles, the EQC will introduce the Progressive Luxury design idiom, as well as the newest safety systems and technology from Mercedes-Benz, including the new headunit generation from Mercedes-Benz called MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User Experience) with a new user interface and natural speech recognition and touchscreen.

Tail lights look Macan-ish, but I still dig it. Dash screen still for me.

      Love everything else though.

It will sell like hot cakes.

They should really change that dash, though.

I'm glad they are making this, but what's with the giant "grille" (probably fake) when there's little need for cooling?

The rear light bar is quickly becoming the "it" thing of 2019/2020.

It's just a tribute to the big boss.

On technical grounds, with an 80 kwh battery pack, I suspect that 200 mile preliminary range is extremely conservative. The Model X with 75 kwh option is EPA rated at 237 miles of range. I suspect the Mercedes should be able to clock in at least 230-240 miles minimum, maybe 250+ miles but they are keeping it conservative now so they can wow the public later once they have a better idea of what the true range is for each region.

I think you're spot-on. The 200 miles seems suuuper conservative to me.

How long would it take me to clean the wheels on the AMG version? The answer: Never. I would never clean the wheels on the AMG version.

      I like it. Would drive.

These will sell like hotcakes here, could you imagine, an electric SUV for which you can get a service appointment with just a couple of weeks notice.

Interesting details about the drive line.

The two asynchronous machines with a combined output of 300 kW are placed in the middle of each axle.

Front axle: optimized for efficiency, mainly at low to medium load range.
      Rear axle: optimized for performance.

Sophisitcated decoupling decreases NVH and saves energy.
Combined, the maximum torque of both electric motors is at 765 Nm.
Torque shifting with 100 % variable power distribution.
      110KW DC Fast Charging.

The front's a little a weird with the headlight and grille, but otherwise it's very nice. Curious to see how competitively priced it will be.

This isn't going to be cheap, but I'm excited there's finally an EV offering coming in a bigger size class (that's not a six-figure Model X). Those dimensions are great... Outback/Edge/Santa Fe size.

The 200mi range does seem like a lowball, but that plus 110kW CCS charging can really handle almost all my driving needs.

Remember, this is just what Elon has always said he wanted, competition in this market space. And kick the OEMS into producing real efforts here. Without Tesla, this would net be here yet, if ever.

I think the conventional design is a mistake. IMO EVs are supposed to be like the Taycan, E-Pace, even the Model S to a degree. The freedom EVs give in design should force manufacturers to make them super distinctive. This looks like a GLC in different trim. Don't get me wrong- the GLC is gorgeous- for an ICE car. But full EVs have to be on another level
