I put the Rally Armor flaps on my BRZ - mainly for two reasons.

      1) My wider wheels and tires would throw debris down the side of my car more often
      2) Subaru's notoriously soft paint that chips way too easily.

had them on my Evo IX MR, they were great for keeping snow, salt spray, and dirt off the car.

To each their own. Personally, I find them ugly, but that's likely because I'm getting too old.

Bro can turn his light bar on and blind everyone, you literally, really can't do any damage with one of those mudflaps. Unless you take one off and beat me with it.

Adds ridiculously trendy cosmetic mods to car so others will think he is cool.

Claims he doesn't care what others think when called out for stupid mods.

      But seriously....

      Those mudflaps are probably...heavy.
What lightness mods do most do to offset the added weight?

I had a set of short ones on my Focus when I had it. Non-ST, the chunky hakka R2's toss a ton of **** in the winter and our roads are really dirty. Made a big difference in keeping the back of the car clean. I took them off when I put the summers on though. And yeah, style points obviously. However I do not vape and I'm not 17.

Back when I WAS 17 (2001) a good friend of mine had a 91 Legacy Turbo with mud flaps. It's not really a "new" thing. We ended up swapping a WRX engine into that car with the required atmospheric BOV.

Oh good, you fixed the pic.
For a moment I thought my monitor was screwing up.
Then I remembered you are just getting old.

But in deep snow..... seems like you would want the snow flung out clear from the tires instead of caked up in the wheel well because big mudflaps???

I never got the mudflap thing either. Unless it's truly an off-road, dirt track racer, why? If the car is lowered, stanced, or whatever, it's not going to need flaps. It ruins any sort of clean look imho.

Gonna further trigger the TCL elderly:

And push bars with KC daylighters/neon matching accents everywhere were the LED bro-lights of the 80s/90s.

None of this is new. If you're observing it and being critical it just means you've reached the old/boring/out of touch/Camry driver stage of your life. Congrats! Invest wisely!

But what if we didn't like it back then, either?

I've always fallen on the "sleeper" side of style rather than the "look at me" stuff. I'm also pretty practical, so I do laugh when I see FWD cars with a giant bench on the trunk.

The tailgate net isn't necessairly a poser/wannabe accessory. To me they're just a sometimes useful thing, definately better than not having any tailgate at all. KC daylighters weren't as bad as those lightbars, and most of the times they had covers on them anyway .

Yeah. Even OEM-sized splash guards will cause some serious crap to accumulate in the wheel wells, which I then have to kick/punch/poke with my snow scraper to break loose, so I tend to remove them from my cars. I haven't incurred a disproportionate amount of rock chips (most cars have some sort of chip guard treatment on the rocker panels anyway) and cars get filthy in winter with or without flaps. I also picked up close to 2mpg when I ditched the OEM flaps on my Tacoma.
Now this was a superior machine. Ten grand worth of gimmicks and high-priced special effects. The rear windows lit up with a touch like frogs in a dynamite pond. The dashboard was full of esoteric lights and dials and meters that I would never understand.
